Controller Benefits?
Ay fam,

I'm considering getting the steam controller but still weighing the pros and cons.

Does using it improve gameplay experience or is it still just a preference? Also, I've heard alot about it not working consistently...is this true? Would love some help?

Some games don't support controllers. You can see wether it supports it or not on the store page.

There are many games that generally feel better playing with a controller opposed to playing with mouse and keyboard. And some games are just somewhat unplayable without controller (Dark souls for example).

In the end it comes to personal choice but nearly every game i play that isn't a first person shooter i play with an controller.

Hey MaⓙesticWolf, hm i would say from my prespective that using normal setup to play the game , controller doesen't help you, you can't become better with the controler . that's my thought.

Steam controller works on EVERY game, now how well it works depends how much you're willing to tweak it, I use it on PLENTY of games without Any native controller support and it works amazingly, yes, it improves the gameplay experience, even for games like Guild Wars 2 (since it's just a 10 button mmo VERY easy to do on steam controller while maintaining precision with the trackpads.

I received a steam controller for free from valve early december and it absolutely improves gameplay experience in so many games. Whether it works consistently? I play wired and have absolutely no problems, wireless is always a little finicky with any device.

Missed the 'steam' part in steam controller and thought we were talking about regular controllers here. Still the same opinion of a controller being amazing for many games!

Both xbox and ps4 controller can do lot more stuff now thanks to steam.
The DS4 might be the best second option for you if the lack of two sticks is a downside for you.
The DS4 can do mousestuff on the pad I think?
