FPS vs refresh rate
quick question, will 120 fps look better than 60 fps on a moniter with a refresh rate of 60hz? I want to know if it is worth it to higher my graphics in some games and stay at 60 fps instead of 120 fps but still have the game look the same.

No, it's not worth it. 60hz = 60fps, it doesn't process more, you're just stressing your GPU.

Use an FPS limiter, not V-Sync, it introduces input lag.
yes it wil look smoother when you play 120 fps then 60fps but small. i would play on higher graphic then higher fps. graphic over fps

No it's not. There's no difference, you're outputting 60 frames thanks to the hzs.
yea, I know that 60hz limits the moniter to 60 fps, but does 120 fps look nicer on a 60hz then 60 fps?
No, it does not
I changed my max fps setting back and forth between 60 and unlimited, and I saw a signifcant difference in how smooth it ran... but my computer has a 60hz refresh rate

Because you have v-sync activated, that introduces input lag

Unless you're distracted by tearing. Then you should use Vsync.

I did not have v-sync activated... only max fps at 60 (there was an option for vsync)

and for some reason, v-sync actually gives me screen tear... nothing else does... idk why

In an ideal scenario, you want frame rate to match refresh rate. Anything more you cannot see, and will introduce partial frames, which will result in screen tear.

You do, however, get less visual input latency with higher frame rates.

Visual tearing is also less noticeable with higher frame rates and in increments relative to your refresh rate.

Vsync limits frame rate and synchronizes frames for a tear free experience. This process also takes time, which results in added input latency.

Many people, including me, do not like vsync and prefer alternative ways to eliminate screen tearing. Personally I like adaptive sync technologies, and use Gsync.

If you are having tearing with vsync on, then something is amiss as that is not normal operation.

In dynamic games it is best to have as many FPS as possible. Dependless on your monitor refresh rate. This reduces the dissynchronization between the positions of the models on the server and your PC.

I think you misunderstand my statement.

In an ideal scenario, similar to how people say "in a perfect world".

That specific statement was also about visual fidelity.
Keeping this short.

> More FPS is good.
Will you see more frame per second? No, when a refresh rate is 60hz it's going to be 60 FPS, but it's not the idea to stay at or close to 60 FPS, as you might notice some stutters.

> Are frame limiter, or V-Sync good?
Depends on the games, for example, Skyrim you must leave it lock at 60 FPS, any higher, and you can see some strange events happening, or gaming breaking issues.

Keep in mind these things can cause issues to some games when you have them on, which is why no one ever recommends putting limits, or V-Sync on most FPS games, because you don't want to have stutters.

> How to get higher refresh rate?
Get a monitor that has a higher refresh rate.

60 FPS at 60hz, with a frame time of 16.67ms, is most certainly the idea and will not stutter. Stutter is when something is wrong, not when everything is ideal.

If using a frame limiter or vsync causes stutter, then something is wrong and you need to find out the issue. That is not normal.
