The home button does work when pressed in game to open the overlay. No idea of how to fix this.
If you are on the latest windows 10 then do this: (translated)
Settings > Games > Game bar (on the side, should be default) > Open the game bar with this button on a controller.
(maybe disable the game bar completely)
If you are on slightly older win10 without that setting thing then do this: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=6239-DZCB-8600 the setting should be around there.
Thanks, the guide button on my controller is being correctly recognized, when pressed, it opens the Steam overlay. What I can't do is use the combination of buttons to take a screenshot. It doesn't recognized the Chord configuration. This is my configuration: https://imgur.com/fb5czJj. As you can see, Home + RT should take a screenshot. But when I'm playing a game and go to the overlay and to the screenshots section, what I see is this: https://imgur.com/y28hNYB.
So when I'm playing I try to press Home + RT but what happens is that the overlay opens up and nothing more. I have tried this both playing directly on my PC and on my Steam Link. If i'm not mistaken, it should work in both places.
You can see if you open the one that says "left mouse" it shows you lots of specific trigger settings and everything.
You can change it to whatever home anything combo if you want but that's what the default is.
btw, those cord settings are great to have when you need a mouse, you can just hold home+right stick and move the mouse and click with the triggers.
And again with cords, you *hold* the home button and *press* the additional button to get what you want. It's not a "exactly at the same time" thing, the home button is the modifier for all those steam cords so hold it and the button does what the cords are set to.
EDIT: home+start is alt+tab so be careful while holding it.
Thank you so much! I hadn't understood that I had to hold and press as you said! It's working now when I'm playing on my PC, which is a great first start! But when I try on my Steam Link, which is where I prefer to play, it doesn't work. Any ideas?
If you go to the controller settings again and enable generic controller support it should work, if you use a controller via a steam link then steam can't tell if it's an xbox 360 controller or something similar.
If you go to the controller settings then steam will tell you what kind of controller it think you use so you can tell them apart and change checkboxes. If nothing shows up then you need to check that thing above.
Hi, thanks for the help. I've been trying and trying with no results... When I play on my PC and have the controller connected to it, Steam recognizes it as an Xbox 360 controller. If I check in the controller settings configuration support for Xbox controllers (I also checked the generic support checkbox) and go to the button chord configuration, I can configure just fine. And the settings work in game when in Big Picture mode. If I unckech the xbox configuration support checkbox, and only leave support for generic controllers, I can't configure it in the chord settings, Steam says that I have to enable Xbox configuration support. But the configurations that are saved in the button chord settings still work.
When I switch to play on the Link and therefore connect the controller to it, it is only recognized as an xInput controller. The chord settings don't work at all. Even when I only have the generic controller support checkbox checked, when I go to the button chord configurarion screen, it just shows the loading animation and never opens. When I click on the desktop configuration, I get the message that configuration is not supported for this Unknown controller, as seen here: https://imgur.com/a/CcK36
I don't understand what's going on. This has been very frustrating, I' ve spent hours already trying to fix this. I think that this is a bug. How can it work on my PC even when I can't configure the settings, but not work at all in Steam Link?
Any other tips will be greatly appreciated :(.
Try this, don't disable xbox controller support ever. Don't disable generic xinput either.
Don't connect to Steam without the proper controller plugged in to the right thing. Don't leave any 360 plugged in to the PC while using the link.
Did you try using the link with the proper controller boxes checked?
You might want to post here unless you cant find other threads with the same issue: http://steamcommunity.com/app/353380/discussions/
Hi, thanks again for your help. I tried leaving both boxes checked. I only have this controller. I tried connecting it to the Steam Link and then turning it on. After that I opened Steam on my PC which only had my mouse connected to it. I played om the Steam Link but again, the chords don't work and neither is the controller configurable.
I haven't found any other thread with this issue so I'll be posting where you pointed to and hope I this gets solved. Thanks again!
I am very angry too because there isn't enough official documentation to know what to expect on the Steam Link, at least! I have done everything to make this work on it but it just doesn't work... I am awaiting for a reply from support. I hope I can get it fixed. Will update on how it goes...
(and maybe you have to install there "Xbox Extended Feature Support Driver", the same page)
