Steam client lagging horribly

My steam client has a minimum of 7 seconds of delay for some reason. It started at 5 seconds and is getting worse. The rest of my pc is absolutely fine, including the games. However, steam refuses to run family share games (I click play or open the shortcut and absolutely nothing pops up). Please help me this is hell

It is not you as I have read dozens of people like you and myself with the same issue.
I suggest sending Steam a message to make them aware of it.

Maybe they can fix it as for me only happened since last update.

Its for days now, the Steam Shop does not even load

I sent steam a ticket and without any troubleshooting they said I have an app conflict.

I find that funny as I have not installed any other programs recently.
I told them in a reply i even tried a selective startup using msconfig and the issue was still there.

They always want to blame the user or our rigs for the issue, it bugs me a great deal.
Maybe they will do some reading on the forum and see many others with the same issue.



EDIT: seems the issue is fixed today. Just opened steam and it is now running great again.



Anyways just wanted to fill in others.

Goto Steam - Settings - Web Browser
Delete Web Browser Cache
Delete All Browser Cookies

Right-click your Steam icon > Properties > Shortcut (Tab) > Open file location.

Under your Steam folder, find if there's a "debug.log" file?

If so, right-click and open with "NotePad". Scroll down to the bottom of that file and check it's messages.

Does it say something like "Unable to move cache folder \htmlcache to \old_htmlcache_000
[1117/174828:ERROR:cache_creator.cc(132)]" or similar?

There seems to be an issue with recreating Steam web-browser cache (when cleaning with CCleaner or similar). Exiting and rerunning Steam or recreating the cache as mentioned above (by nobody) might help you out in that case.

I have the same problem since last update. It's since a few days now. Page loading very slow, lot's of pictures (ingame screenshots, store pictures, avatars) not loading correctly, can't access activity feed, discussion forums and other community features half of the time.

Other web/software/clients don't have problems and there is nothing changed on my setup and my internet is working fine. I tried also deleting cache and cookies but doesn't change anything.

Hey guys, try doing a disk cleanup. Doing so probably includes temporary files / browser cache files made by Steam; and this cleared up the issue for me.

So, my steam only lags once in a while now, but once I restart it, it becomes normal again. The only problem that remains from the laggy times is that family share just doesn't work. I click on "play" and absolutely nothing happens, same for opening the game's shortcut. The game is not listed as [---]'s game, but instead appears directly in my main game list. Also, the not downloaded ones do not appear.

You need to re-do all this family sharing process, ( reauthenticating etc.)
