Avast blocking my Steam Achievements
Hello! After installing Avast I realized my progress and record of achievements is gone. I looked up a way to fix this in youtube and Steam Forums and they say I have to place Steam as an authorized progam and so on... I did, and it doesn't work.

I placed Steam info in Avast Firewall as to not let it block it... also, I placed Steam as an exclusion in "Exclusions" and "System File Protection" but to no vail. Or maybe I should place the game instead of Steam (but that doesn't make much sense, since the achievements are in Steam and not the game per se).

Any other ideas? Maybe I'm missing another option for Steam to get permissions/not be blocked in Avast. Thanks in advance!

Just to keep you updated: I uninstalled Steam, and downloaded and installed it again... I played "Cinderella Phenomenon" and I think I was able to unlock an achievement (I don't remember if I got the pop-up that alerts you of it)... I'll try playing another game (probably tomorrow or the day after that) to check if the issue was solved by doing that.

I'll make a last post (later on) just to make sure Avast and/or Steam aren't messing up with me.

Thank you guys for the patience and the ideas! =)

Popup does not matter; u did it = u get it. Regardless
Seeing the popup has to do with Steam In-Game Overlay enabled / working or not.

Just look at your profile > game > achievements (they have time-stamps)

Do yourself a favor and ditch Avast, it's not a good AV anyways.

You need to exclude ALL Steam exe files; every single one within \Steam and \Steam\Bin
Namely GameOverlayUI.exe
Once again you are wrong . I have Avast ( paid ) and it has no problems .

And also you are wrong on the files . Just put Steam.exe in the Firewall exclusions and all is good . Avast also has a game mode now .

its still junk, anyone u put it. IDK u people put that crap in gaming PCs; gaming PCs should be clean of all junk, period.
Okay, guys! This is the post that officially closes my original request for help. I got another achievement (this time pop-up and all... hahahahahaha). So, having Avast... uninstalling Steam, downloading it and reinstalling it worked for me.

I really appreciate your time, patience and ideas. C u 'round! ;)

Avast might block your Firewall as well and in return, enable its own protection. Go and reinstall Avast
