Steam Error Code -101

For the past 24 hours, I've been unable to go on steam pages such as stores and profiles, which would return the error code -101 and say "Unable to connect to server. Server may be offline or you may not be connected to the internet.". I've been able to play online and access my friend list just fine, but whenever I try going on the store it would return the error code.

Same here, I've been unable to access the store for 2 days now. Can download, update and play games but no store. Maybe is it related to the chinese store servers?

I think this may be it. I can access the store with a vpn connected to a foreign server but not when it isn't connected.

Getting the same issue here and it's getting worse.

I have a new PC.
So after I download X Rebirth, Wolflenistan New Order to my New PC I am having cloud sync save file issue.
So I can play the game just fine but it won't allow me to sync the save file on the steam cloud which is a major headach.

Anyone know how long until the china server will become stable?

Still not fixed apparently... Can't connect today...It seems pretty random; recently I had no problem, then today back again with these connection problems.

I have over the last weeks suffered the same problem but as Fleyz stated it is very random.
Last night downloaded Hellblade without issue played and browsed the store. this morning once again the error code.
What is interesting though is that hellblade was prepurchased and last night I also had the error code 101 but the download went thru no problems at all. Strangely after playing the game for an hour the store and discussion areas were running fine?
To answer wany1981 not sure what is the issue there? I also have Wolflenistan New Order and it saves to the cloud without issues......i never see a dialogue box that I can remember but when I exit I can always pick up where I left off even with this awkward 101 error..
As for how long it will persist I am hoping that after the Government here has had its big conference it will return to normal.

Also you can try the settings option top left under steam. Drop down menu lets you select which server to download from in China. Might just be dumbluck but as it forces a restart of steam I have had a 50/50 chance of the store opening properly....but sofar today no luck.
