offline message notifications gone...

Me friend and I have noticed that we no longer receive offline message notifications (green envelope in upper right). If we go to send a message while offline, we can see the notificationless messages that were sent in our chat history though. all notification options in settings->friends are on. anyone have any insight on this? it seemed to start happening within the last one to two steam updates.

I've just noticed this too and it is really inconvenient. I appear offline to friends to get peace to play games, but I chat with my bf in offline mode (He also appears offline). Now we don't even know if messages have been sent unless we go to each others profile and click send message.

yeah i'm the same way. when i'm gaming i'm looking to focus on the game, not get inundated with messages. not being informed when i have offline messages is kinda vexing.

i do, however, get green envelope notifications when i get comment replies though, so that's still working.

Having same issue here, no message notifications when offline unless I click on "send message" in a friends profile to open the chat window...going online does not fix (older sent messages to me when offline will not appear) and checking all the boxes under "notification settings" also does not work. Help!

Same problem for me for me for a week now. I only get the green notifications for offline messages if Steam was totally closed.

i'm not even getting notifications if steam is closed when the message is sent. the only way i know i someone sent a message to me while i was offline is by opening a chat window with someone and looking at the chat history.

Still not fixed. Some people on my list were not even aware of this yet, and thought I was being rude by ignoring them. I cannot go down my entire friends list, clicking on send message from their profiles everytime I go online proper, just to see if I have missed something. I notice that I get green notifications when I am actually offline and steam is closed.

Offline messages only work if steam is completly closed. When I am online but just in offline mode I get no more offline messages. I think it has something to do with the change that offline messages now directly appear in a chat window now instead as before as green notification symbol to open the chat window. Tried reinstalling steam, but it still doesn't work.

it's funny you mention that... right before i stopped getting any notifications, i was actually getting pop up chat windows instead of the green envelope when i received a message while appearing offline. now i get nothing.

i though i'm having this issue cuz of my computer or something, but i think valve fixed that yesterday

It is finally working again for me too. I get the green notification symbol now in offline mode. After days of testing and reinstalling complete steam, trying if there is any blocking at windows or something else it works now but sadly with no hint of valve that there was something fixed. So this obviously was a bug they fixed stealthy.
Hope it works for everyone else with that problem soon too because that is a very annoying bug.
