Good idea to leave pc on overnight?

I want to download a game right now. I figured I could just download it overnight, but my question is is that good for the computer? Also, will it download if I'm at the homescreen or have it locked? Also, is there a way to turn the fans to 0 or something so they're not too loud?

Some people leave their computer on more or less indefinitely, so.

As far as fan speeds go, MSI Afterburner is first in my mind, but that's just for the GPU fan(s). BIOS probably works for others, but I'd probably leave them alone.

I'd definitely check what idle temperatures you're getting with them off.

Would never turn fans entirely off myself.

I see no other issue as the noise, which can be avoided by buying branded fans and/or setting a silent fan profile in the BIOS.
Good GPUs should also regulate the fan speed theyelves, which by idle tasks like download should run on minimal - or not at all. My EVGA GTX 1050 Ti stops the fan to zero if temperature stays bellow 60 celsius.

Leave the fan control to the system. If you could just turn them off they wouldn't be there in the first place.

Everything will work if you "lock" the computer; just don't log off your account. If you log out, none of your programs will be running anymore (that's what "log off" does, after all).

Generally if noise bothers you, is not a bad idea to switch out the case fans and the CPU fan is you are still on stock cooler for something branded.
PMW coolers if you don't want to bother in BIOS. But as Teutep says shutting off them entirely is a bad idea, the CPU and the outtake case fan should run all the time.

yeah i guess you can run it overnight im running my pc 24/7 to run Unturned servers for people running it for weeks,,,just boost your fan speel little bit then u wont have a problem,,,but for you that wants to run it for just one night or so you can leave fan speed like that
