Game freezes and crashes PLEASE HELP
So I got a laptop from a friend to play games over the summer because my last laptop died. He had previously used the laptop for gaming and it ran most of his games fine, such as Mount and Blade and Skyrim. So ive been playing Mount and Blade for a few days with no problems, and yesterday I decided to play Skyrim. However, after about 2 minutes the game would freeze and a loud buzzing would play through the speakers everytime i tried to play it. It would then either crash my computer and show the blue screen of death, or id have to manually restart. This then also happened with Mount and Blade a couple of times even though it had previously been working fine. The same thing just happened about 5 minutes ago when i installed Amnesia and tried to play it. However, the game itself only crashed and not my computer. I have a dell i7 with 8gb of ram and ive fully updated my nvidia graphics card. A few errors popped up on the BBSOD and two of them were: IRQL not less or equal, and another was VIDEO SCHEDULER INTERNAL ERROR. Thanks and i hope someone can help.

Generally caused by the videodriver, try updating or reinstalling it.

The nvidia or intel one

Nvidia. No reason to game on Intel one when you have a Nvidia card.

Had the driver updated just before the crashes began? Nvidia or annoying windows updating it?

i updated it through nvidia after the crashes began

I saw that but did Nvidia or windows update just before the first crash? If they did that could be the cause. If so using DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) then downloading and installing a previous version could solve the problem.

EDIT: actually download latest, use DDU and reinstall anyway just to clean your driver install.

After a reset, the computer updated to windows 10, but the nvidia had not been touched before the first crash

Create your own thread. Preferably in the games discussion area as someone there may have had and solved this problem.

So if it started after your computer updated to Win 10 that is likely the cause. I'm guessing the Windows update screwed something up. Ideally a fresh install of windows 10 is advised over the upgrade path. If you don't want to go that way you can try using the DDU to remove previous Nvidia drivers and then reinstall them. Hopefully something got screwed up with the update and this clean install of the drivers will fix it.
