MSCVR120.dll missing? [SOLVED]
I recently tried out editing a video with Movavi, however, this is a limited time trial and will always place a watermark over the edited content, unless I rent a premium version.

So I downloaded a program named "lightworks", which had overall good reviews, and looked decent.

However, after installation, I cannot launch the executable. A error message pops up, telling me that a "MSCVR120.dll" is missing. I don't know much about IT stuff, but I think it has something to do with Visual C++. However, I did install

-Microsoft VcRedist
-Microsoft VcRedist for MainConcept REFSDK
-Microsoft VcRedist for MainConcept LLSDK

with the Lightworks setup, I would have believed that something called VcRedist would install that missing .dll.

I have had this problem before with some games, they did still launch and play without a problem.

Googling this problem, there are links to Microsoft support sites that provide downloads. I have tried the x86 and the x64 versions, installing them didnt do anything.

Does anyone have an idea what to do here? I am using Windows 8 on a late 2014 Acer Predator G3 - 605 PC.

Download this and copy it to the root of the application's directory, you'll be surprised how often it works.

https://www.dll-files.com/msvcr120.dll.html

Yes, the site is legit, it's been going as long as I've been using the internet and I remember 16k modems. :tgrin:

You need the Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 runtime package, in the appropriate bitness. If you do t know the bitness, install both 32 and 64 bit.

Bad idea. Never download DLL files from third-party sources.

I will keep that site in mind as a last resort, but I would believe that Microsoft should provide these themselves...

They do. You can download them from www.microsoft.com

Fair enough, if you are cocerned, search System32 for your own copy of MSCVR120.dll and copy that to the application's install directory.

As long as you have VC++ 2013 installed like ReBoot suggested, then the problem is probably just that the application is looking in the wrong place.

This 2010 version is the only one I could find on the official site.
