Xbox One controller Guide button bug

There seems to be a weird bug related to the Guide button on an Xbox One controller (wireless in case it makes a difference):

I start Steam, turn on the Xbox One controller using the Guide button, but don't press any other buttons on the controller. Then I try pressing the Guide button to bring up Steam and open Big Picture mode, as I have been doing for years, but instead of doing that it just causes the system volume to increase (shown by an overlay at the top left of the screen) and the mouse cursor to move up and to the left a certain distance. That keeps happening until I press any controller button EXCEPT the Guide button, after which the Guide button starts working as intended (it opens Steam and then launches Big Picture).

This doesn't happen when Steam isn't running (pressing the Guide button does nothing, as you'd expect) so I suspect that it's a Steam issue. It only started happening recently, probably in the last couple of weeks. Not the end of the world but fairly annoying...

Now that I check the update history, I see that the Steam update from 1st June added the "Guide Chord" feature so it seems likely that this problem was introduced as a result of that.

Hey, did you happen to find a proper solution to this? I did some searching but couldn't find anyone else experiencing this bug.

Unfortunately, my guide button doesn't seem to correct itself if I hit another button; just keeps increasing volume and moving my mouse cursor...

Agreed, I've got this annoying problem too. Did you ever find a fix?

It's still happening for me, fortunately pressing any of the other buttons makes the Guide button work again so it's not a huge problem. I can see how it would be much more annoying if that didn't fix it!

I am also experiencing this problem using an Xbox One S controller over a bluetooth connection. Also,sometimes when I press the guide button, windows decides to play music from my spotify sometimes seemingly randomly. These are very frustrating issues,have you found any fix? Or will we have to wait for a steam update to fix this? Also, could someone explain what the "Chord Features" even are/do? Thanks

Same setup here (Xbox One S controller over bluetooth, Spotify etc). This is an annoying bug :(
