Steam Client Will not minimize

Starting a few days ago when starting Steam it opens in full screen, I can't minimze it like I have been able to do for, well, since installing it a year+ ago. Actually I never maximized it. I don't have it set to start up with windows. It is set to open in Library which it does. Clicking on the minmize/maximize icon top right corner, left of the x, does absolutely nothing. I don't want it to be maximixed. I've gone through "setting" top to bottom and nothing helps with this.
I hope I have made it clear what the problem is.

take your mouse cursor and go to a corner of the window and shrink the window.

you apparently have it windowed and stretched to cover the whole screen.

I've tried that and no arrows, top, bottom, left or right. no options to make it smaller. I did nothing to make it this way. I haven't go into any setting for this client in a very long time. I open it in Library, click on a game of interest, check discussions or maybe workshop. Just like I have been doing for a Very long time. But this time I open it and BAM full screen and no option to minimize it. Click the X and it goes to hidden tray, as it always has.
If I apparently have it windowed where is the option to UNwindoe it. ;-)

did you make sure you had the window not set to fullscreen first?

I haven't change anything. I edited the above with more info.
Where is this setting to set it to fullscreen?

next to the x...when you see only 1 box that is windowed. if you see 2 boxes one behind the other, that is fullscreen.

Have you ever found a way to fix this? I seem to have a similar problem where steam will not minimize when clicking on another icon on the dashboard.

Same issue here. The minimised view is fullscreen and there is no way to make it smaller. Patronising posts assuming someone has no knowledge of how to minimise a window really don't help. At no point around the screen can I get the minimise arrows *when in minimise*.

Any helpful suggestions?

I've found a solution that worked for me! Open up task manager, locate "Steam Client Bootstrapper", and end it. After that, open up steam. You should now be able to minimize the screen via dragging the corners of the window. Hope this helps!
