Form W-8BEN to certify your status as a non-U.S. person.
Hello, yesterday I hit 200 listings and I got a notification that I must submit some documentation to steam to be able to sell more than 200 items.

What should I do?

Thanks.

I know, but is this legit? I mean Steam has knowledge of me paying from my country of residence, they are asking for a purchase made 6 years ago from a paypal account, from there on I've been paying from credit cards from my country and in cash. Is there another way or procedure?
You must fill it out. It is legit. No other procedure.
Steam is required by US tax law to provide those information if you sell more then 200 items per year.
You have 2 options:

A: Fill the form out and send it back
B: Stop selling stuff till 2018 when the 200 item limit resets

Thats it.

Also, DONT LIE. The things you write will be checked against international databases so if you make false statements you are screwed. And can even be blocked from the market permanently.

Just fill it out and thats it. I did it a few years ago, never heard anything from it again and no more 200 item limit.

Ok, thanks.
While steam is obligated to collect certain taxpayer identifying information from those having 200+ transactions in a calendar year, no information is reported to the U.S. IRS unless your total profit from these sales exceed $20,000.

I hope u still on steam. I just created a work in workshop and published it. I filled the W-8BN form but couldn't enter my signature through electronic means. I took a print of the form and signed it manually. So now what I gotta do with that form.

You need to ask Steam support I would assume they would have this information.
Guys! I have found a solution to this problem. Perhaps you write your mail in lowercase letters, while in the steam database you have some uppercase letters (you can check in the settings - about account)
This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
