Mad Catz Arcade stick not working
Hey all

I've been waiting for years for tekken 7 to release and now that it's here my arcade stick is not working on the PC. ( Yes i bought the game on PC) The model is Mad catz tournament edition round 2, yeah it's pretty old, bought it like 5-6 years ago. I've tried everything, from downloading Xbox60ec, Motionjoy, Joytostick but simply rebinding the keys is not the problem here. The problem is that my pc is not recognizing the arcade stick. When i plug it in it does give the sound as if something has been inserted and a device does come up in the menu called something like 8835 pc stick, something along those lines (numbers properly incorrect but irrelevant) When i click on the troubleshoot to try and diagonose the problem it says that the usb 2.0 does not work on the 3.0 that i have. I thought 3.0 had backward compatibilty? Some have suggested i download the drivers from Madcatz but like i said, the stick is not recognizable so the drivers don't work because they will ask that i plug it in for confirmation. IS there any way around this? I have litterly been all over the internet for the entire day and no solutions have come up whatsoever!
Would really appreciate help in this.

Hi Faraday,

I have a Mad Catz Soul Calibur V X360 Fightstick and it's plug & play. Is your stick the PS3 version perhaps? If so, then you may have this issue, because your motherboard is not made by Intel. You can get mire information about this issue here: https://forums.shoryuken.com/t/madcatz-ps3-te-fightstick-pc-xp-vista-win7-32-64bit-read-1st-post/55292?source_topic_id=156986

Sorry to hear that you couldn't get it working. Next time try getting an Xbox stick, if you are buying a Mad Catz one- they should work well with Windows.

0ut of curiosity- have you given up on fightsticks completely or did you buy a different one?
Also- which character do you play? I myself am a Jin player and ex- Kazuya player.

Cheers!

I've given up on fightsticks completely. I should have also bought the Tekken 7 on my PS4 rather than PC, which i think was a mistake considering that i would have liked to play on a big tv against my brother.

As for the characters, i did lean strongly on Kazumi at first, don't know why. But after a while i started playing Josie, and i liked her much more. I'm not a great player when it comes to Tekken, which is why i tend to switch between characters. I usually practice one or two combo moves and move on to the next character. In Tekken 6 i was playing a lot of Brian, but i completely lost interest in him. I am quite facinated by Elize right now, thinking of practicing her next.

But truthfully, i don't play Tekken as much as i used to. I would have played it more on my ps4 i think. It was quite disappointing for me not being able to use the stick. I learned afterwards that it works on PS4. However at that time i had already spent over 2 hours trying to fix the settings so it would work on the PC. Valve concluded that i cant return it after playing it for 2 hours, even though i didn't play a single game.

I'm sorry to hear that man. Nonetheless, a stick is not necessary for Tekken. It depends mostly on preference, although certain moves are more reliable on a stick.

I would pick a character that will definitely stay in the Tekken roster. Kazumi and Eliza do not seem like such characters. You will have to learn a new character if they are not in Tekken 8. Although you never know- Lei Wulong is absent in T7, same with Julia Chang.
