Also, this only works if the game is a Steam version. You cant add keys from games that only came out retail years ago with no Steam Support. Those you have to buy again on Steam.
Try it and find out.
If it works, it works. If not, then no.
Just because a game is available on Steam doesn't necessarily mean that buying it elsewhere will give you a key for Steam. If you get a Steam key with your purchase, it should be mentioned somewhere on the game's page on Amazon. For example it might have "DRM: Steam" listed.
It says that it is DRM free. What exactly does that mean? Also, it says that it can be downloaded again in the How It Works tab, so while I could re-download a copy of the game on a different computer, do you think that it would work through Steam as well, provided that the code is Steam-compatible?
If you have a key, try it and see if it works, and you'll have your answer.
The key was sent via email to my dad's email, not mine, because it is his email that is connected to the Amazon account through which I bought the game. He did it on my computer, but because the confirmation email went to his email, I don't have direct access to the code. I will ask him if I can see the code, just haven't done it yet.
