Steam update stuck on "extracting package"

As the title says. I updated everything on my computer (windows ish) and tried everything that the internet suggested (firewall and reinstalling it). Still nothing. Any ideas? Please help

Maybe your HDD/SSD is just slow?? Have you tried checking task manager for activity?

also you can try to:
1. Uninstall Steam
2. Delete Steam folders (Default - C://Program Files/Steam)
3. Install Steam again

Had a problem like this also.
I fixed it like this:

1. Go in Settings > Updates & security > Windows defender > Turn off everything except Real time protection ( I did turno off that one also, but all it can do is froze your PC)
2.Go into your Steam folder and run it as administrator.
3.If it doesn't help try turning off Windows Defender.

I hope it will help .
Give me some feedback tho.

EDIT: I did delete steam including all my games, but I don't think it is necessary to do that.

Guys. I solved it by uninstalling it, restarting my of to safe mode with internet acces and installing it then. I hope it helps. Thanks for the comments!

Try to reinstall steamclient, turning off Windows Defender. Hope it will help u.
