Playing My Steam Games on Chrome OS

I just bought a chromebook, not realizing that chrome os does not support the downloading of steam. Is there a way for me to have access to the games that I own on steam without being able to download steam? Or is the only way to bypass this by downloading the linux os?

You can not game on a Chromebook those PCs have Celeron CPUs the weakest CPUs you can buy. If you want to try it anyway Linux is your only option.

Well, I mean you could play games on a chrome book. Wether it's playable or not is up to the gamer.

(assuming OP bought a cheap Chromebook) Sub 30 is not playable and all games will run like that, except maybe some very simple 2D games.

Stick to Flash games and Google Play stuff; Chrome-Book specs aren't going to run Steam Games well, if at all even if you stick Linux or Win10 on it.

Either way. Some people can play at 10fps just fine. I got ranked in CS from playing at 10fps on my old laptop. But yes. Those of us who prefer 60+FPS will not be able to game on a chromebook

10 FPS isn't playable is someone plays at 10 FPS they simply do not have the finances for a decent PC (I used to be one of those people). 25-30 is what I consider absolute minimum for a game to be playable. Yeah you can play at 20 fps (I pumped about 1000+ hours in to Skyrim with that FPS) but its not really a great experience.

I personally prefer 60fps, but all I'm saying is that frame rate preference depends on the person. What you may think is choppy, may be smooth to someone else. Maybe it's their first time playing a video game and they play it at 10fps. That may seem smooth to them. It really just depends on the person

Well for one it's a Chrome Book; might as well be on an Android Tablet.
Get a real laptop with good specs. Simple as that.
Or do it on a Desktop.

Yeah but that is the problem the game will not be playable OP needs to be happy if he gets 10fps in half life.. This machine isn't made for gaming.

Chromebooks are really just a $200 access to the internet. I know it's not meant for gaming. But why should one have to drop at least 300-400 on a gaming PC? I don't want to argue why I think you could do some extremely light gaming, but I am going to state this one last time:

If the game is playable for the individual user, then who cares about framerate? It's also the same with an overpowerd gaming pc. Who cares about framerate since you can have all the frames you want?

The reason PCs are expensive is because they usually have to be. Hardware and games evolve, and as the demands get higher and higher, so so the specs.

I am petty sure that if someone is playing at 10 fps that person will not consider it playable but he is force to play it like that because he can not afford anything else.
