It is not possible due to the steam hierarchy.
On top of everything there is your profile. Within your profile there are your games and your inventory and so on.
To keep the explaination simple: You can let people inside your house and keep specific rooms private, but you cant show people specific rooms if you dont let them inside your house ;)
For this metaphor your profile is your "house" and the gameslist or your inventory are the "rooms"
Long explaination is:
Your gameslist, friendslist and so on inherit the privacy settings of your profile in general, means if your profile is public, your friendlist is public or your games list is public.
But steam gives you the possibility to keep your inventory private even for people you let inside your house (friends in steam), behind the scenes you tell the steam network to make the privacy settings independent of your profile settings
Shame Steam doesn't have more fine tuned privacy settings.
I don't care if someone sees my items but I care if someone sees how long I played and when I last played.
