Steam in-home streming video quality: how to improve it?
Hi everyone! I'm trying to stream with Steam's in-home streaming.

I can play just fine with no appreciable latency (well, on The Witcher 3 and other slow games like that) at 1080p at 60 fps. The problem is that there is noticeable compression, especially in low lit areas and with a lot of grass or fine details.

Now, I know that some compression occurs, but I'm trying to reduce it to the minimum to avoid artifacts. If you want to help me, I'll post all the hardware involved and the settings. Thanks in advance!

HARDWARE

Pc running the game:
- AMD FX 8320
- GTX 1060 6gb
- 8 gb RAM

Receiver (laptop hooked up to my 1080p tv via hdmi)
- i7 5500U
- GEFORCE 920m
- 4gb ram

I never saw any appreciable bottlenecking from both machines. Now, they are both on the same network and are on a WIRED connection.

SOFTWARE OPTIONS (identical on both machines)

Host options
- Change desktop resolution to match streaming client DISABLED (both run at 1080p)
- Dynamically adjust capture resolution to improve performance DISABLED
- Use NVFBC capture on Nvidia GPU DISABLED (since I'm still informing myself about what it is)
- Enable hardware encoding ENABLED
- Number of software encoding threads AUTOMATIC
- Prioritize network traffic ENABLED

Client options:
- Quality BEAUTIFUL
- Limit bandwith to UNLIMITED
- Limit resolution to 1080p
- Enable hardware decoding ENABLED

When I enable the statistics I can see that in game I have a network usage of around 60-65 MBit/s, but my network is capable of 100 MBit/s, a speed that I achieve easily when I download a game from the Steam store on both machines.

So.. am I missing something? Is there a way to compress less the video feed at the exchange of increased bandwith usage?

I just found a thread of the exact same problem from 2015. I am having this problem STILL in what is almost 2025. Everything plays normally except previews in steam.
