Steam free offers
So if steam offers a game for free ( that is not usually free) and I start the download but offer expires while it is downloading, do I still get to complete the download and play it?

After the free weekend is over you have to buy it. It's a timed trial.

Should be able to since technically the product gets registered to the account and then you are able to download it. That's considering if the game is given for free to keep forever.

i disagree. (Edited to Add this: My "disagree" was aimed at me disagreeing with what the first two people who responded said)

If a game is given away for free for a limited time and you click to play it or whatever, you definitely get to keep it even if you don't finish downloading it before the offer is over. Example.. "Starpoint Gemini 2" was just given away a few days ago.. and i didn't download it at all but clicked the "play" button or "add" button (whatever the "buy" button turns into when a game is free)... and it is *still* registered to my account... without me having downloaded it at all.

That said..

If you are talking about Free Weekends, Rock, like with Fallout 4 right now... then NO.. if you don't download the game in time for the free weekend you will not get to play it *at all* and even if your download finishes after the Free Weekend is over, when you go to play the game it'll say you must buy it.

But.. free weekends are *different* than a game being genuinely given away for free (like Starpoint Gemini 2) for a limited time.

Yea I am talking about Fallour 4 , I added it to my games , its over 24 gb and I pause the download when I am playing other games. I don't think I will be able to finish the download withtin the time limit so there is no point wasting bandwitdh and time? or I can just keep the download paused and see if its still available after the offer and continue it later.

Might as well cancel it now. You will have to buy it when the offer ends.

Also you may want to read the words of Free Weekends better:

http://store.steampowered.com/news/29654/

Note it says: "Play Fallout 4 for FREE starting now through Sunday at 1PM Pacific Time"

It says you can play it free from now UNTIL Sunday at 1PM..

Which means *after* Sunday at 1PM the game is *no longer free to play*.

Free to play weekends are *limited time demos*, you do *not* get to keep those games forever. EVEN if you manage to download the game fully before the free weekend offer ends... the game *still* becomes unplayable (unless you buy it) after the *limited* free weekend demo.
