Query account by CD-KEY

Someone is trying to register a CD key that is already tied to your account. Steam tells the other person that the key is redeemed and there is a link for them which will send an email to the account which owns the game (i.e. you).

The real question is how did they get your cdkey, because thats one of the things they can use to claim an account.

Only the owner of the CD key should know the CD key. The email is intended to remind the owner which account they registered the key to. Steam doesn't know if it's "you" or someone else trying to register the key. At the end of the day, there's really no reason to be concerned and you can delete the emails.

one reason you shouldn't use keys from giveaways/public places is that email spam.

Ok well I think it might be the games I bought off of kinguin. I bought the bo2 season pass and mw3 bo2 bundle

Yeah probably. Buy from Steam and avoid issues like this.

i suggest you do not purchase there. they have people selling the same keys to many different people. this is the result of that.

Yeah thats what I am going to do I mean I haven't redeemed any other cd keys other then those so it has to be them.

No, they can't use it to take your account, if that is what you are afraid of.
Just delete the emails, no need to worry.

No, it takes far more than that to claim an account, according Valves own help, it is only retail keys that can be used for that.

No, it takes far more than that to claim an account.

Alright because when I lost access to my account because I lost my phone I had to contact steam support and they asked for a CD-KEY that was redeemed on the account.
