DS4 with steam issues
ok now that the DS4 controller is recognized by steam things have gotten more interesting/infuriating while trying to use the controller for something other than steam, an example being i have PS4 remote play, connect to my PS4 and the everything works but the left stick not only moves my charecter but aslo triggers the corresponding D-Pad direction, needless to say this is unacceptable, any tips aside from quitting steam while using other programs with controller support would be helpful.

aslo if the devs read these forums, can we get a settings to disable steams controller support without restarting steam?

This issue may result in what program you are using to connect your controller. Windows does not allow PlayStation controllers to connect within games. Even if it does detect it by USB, it will not allow the user to have full control. I currently use a DS3 controller and the program I use supports DS4 as well and Bluetooth compatibility. If you would like to try the software out I recommend asking questions before you proceed just in case you do not want to conclude in mistakes, but this will rarely happen as this program is self explanatory and automatically installs all the drivers for you! I will be online for a while so feel free to comment back to this discussion topic as I will try to reply as soon as possible!

ScpToolKit v1.6.238.16010 (GitHub) - https://github.com/nefarius/ScpToolkit/releases/tag/v1.6.238.16010

Direct Download (ScpToolKit v1.6.238.16010) - https://github.com/nefarius/ScpToolkit/releases/download/v1.6.238.16010/ScpToolkit_Setup.exe

Instructions:

1. Download & Open The Program
2. Follow The Installer (No Additional Features Needed, Leave Them Unchecked)
3. Plug in your DS4 via USB to any USB port.
4. Allow DS4 drivers to install.
5. Disable DS3 & Bluetooth Install (Force Install Doesn't Matter)
6. Select The Input of Your PlayStation 4 Controller
7. Install Drivers
8. Done :) Your PS4 Controller Will Be Recognized as XBOX Controller! No Re-mapping or messing around. You can normally use the controller in games.

[PS button in center is the XBOX DVR overlay (if enabled). All buttons remain the same just like if you were playing console!]

Happy Steaming!

let me rephrase the issue, steam is interfering with other programs that DO use the controller

Sorry for misunderstanding, in that case that sounds like a STEAM developer issue as it isn't keeping input focus on the specific process. I would recommend submitting a support ticket as well to steam about this!

Try this.
1.Disconnect your controller.
2.Enter big picture.
3.Uncheck ds4 controller support.
4.Exit Steam completely.
5.Reconnect controller.
6.Launch Steam check ds4 support(if you wish to use it).
7.Exit big picture and test.

Sometimes it gets "stuck" for me, sometimes it doesnt.
I forgot to add to try launching the games you do plan to use the controller support for within big picture and then exiting it when done.
