Leaked Passwords
Id like to know why this account that i dont even remember making had its password leaked. This account has a vac ban and it has nothing on it. Someone would only try to access it by having a leaked password. If my main account is compromised and valve didnt say anything I would be very fing pissed off.

Youre an idiot. Its a 4-5 year old ban. I dont care about the account. I CARE ABOUT THE PASSWORD
Well considering the password is tied to the account and you clearly state "Id like to know why this account that i dont even remember making had its password leaked"
So what is it exactly, you want to know why your account was compromised or not?
Yes i would like to know why the password was compromised.

Quick question... how do you store your passwords? Please tell me that you don't store them in your web browser.

Why are you logging into an account that you admittedly do not use and has been compromised (phished) to post a thread about something that none of us here have any way of substantiating or doing anything about? In other words, what is the point of all of this?

You make it sound as if there is some widespread security issue on Steam regarding passwords which is simply not the case. Satoru above summed it up quite well.
It wasnt phished. It would require me to actively know about the account. It was leaked. BECAUSE IM PISSED OFF THAT MY PASSWORD WAS LEAKED.
You wouldn't know if the account was phished or not. Not exactly sure what you hope to achieve by coming to the Steam user forums asking for an explanation and then acting like a child when you're not being told exactly what you want to hear.
If you have an issue with Steam, take it up with support.

the question is "how," not "why."

user passwords have never been compromised on valves end.

If that were the problem which it isnt then they wouldnt have gone after a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ disposable account that has nothing on it. They wouldve gone after my main account which is worth a good bit of money.

Then, like i said "Secure your own account correctly & you have no issues to begin with."
Also, check for malware on your system & change your passwords, also add the steam mobile authenticator.

almost 4 years since the account was used.

leaked passwords dont come from valve. they happen because of poor user security.

:qr:
Right cause valve isnt human. Theyre perfect. Lol

You are

Your password was not leaked by steam

It was leaked by you
Washell 20/mai./2017 às 9:28
How did you come to the conclusion that they have the password? An attemped login mail, or something similar to it, can be triggered in a number of ways without knowing anything more than, say, a cd key that was once registered on an account.

this most likely happened years ago and only now someone tried to access the account.

what you are using for security now has nothing to do with what you were using/doing back when you used the account.
