Steam is showing in my taskbar but won't open
Just recently some programs are showing in my taskbar but won't open when I click on them. Its not all programs but certainly Steam and File Explorer are affected. I've not changed anything and I am using Windows 10, any ideas on how to solve this please? Thanks.

try to restart your pc

or go to the main file where your steam Drive C or D then open it there

1. Open Task manager (CTRL + ALT + Delete).
2. Click Process tab.
3. Find explorer.exe.
4. Right click and select end task.
5. Click File, run new task.
6. Enter explorer.exe and press enter.

also you can go to task manager, find steam client bootstrapper, end it and try and re open steam, it works for me.

I had this issue. Steam would show up in my task bar but won't open in a window. It acted like it was up so I went into my display settings and changed it to 'show only on one'. And now steam is popping up for me. Somehow it got changed which is weird cause I only have one monitor. I hope this helps you.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
