If legally, I don't think so.

But then again I recall that it may not be illegal to crack a game that you've already bought a licence for.

Since no admin closed this thread, I feel free to post a little tech knowledge.
To crack a game, you need to learn x86 assembly. Then you get a debugger/disassembler and watch for the particular instruction where it checks for whatever you want to check and skip that check. Well, it takes years to learn that stuff afterall.
However, I doubt this is legal, if it is legal in your country, it surely isn't legal with Valve. So don't do it.
How exactly does your school bans that? Why can't you start Steam in offline mode?

Maybe, maybe not, regardless, it involves discussion of piracy and is against the rules. I'm in no favor of it, and won't provide you with anything like it, and neither should you be asking for it.

If you really feel like doing it then do some research for yourself and do it under your own discretion. Don't blame me for any trouble you might get involved with.

And in any case, you're in school to study, not to play games.

Civilization V is built on Steam. It can't run without it. I'm not sure what your situation is, whether you are wanting to install Civ V on a school computer (not a good idea), or install it on a laptop you own, and use that computer on a school network. Some schools give students laptops, but prohibit the installation of certain software. So if the computer is the school's, don't try. If the computer is yours, you can do this...

Go to a cafe or hotspot, and sign on to Steam. Run Civ V one time (just get to the menu and exit) to make sure it's activated and ready. Then on the steam probgram, go to Steam, then Go Offline. You can use Steam in offline mode from then on.

Cracking a game without authorization is technically illegal in many countries, including the US. Even if you paid for it.
