Birthday on profile
Okay im just saying why isnt it possible just to enter your birthday in your profile so that when you go to a view game in a store you dont have to keep putting it in. I mean its easy to do and i dont mind doing it but then you get in a situation where you accidently submit on the wrong year and you get locked out for a short time. Just kinda stupid that we cant just have your birthday saved with like the ability to hide it from people for those who dont want people to see there DOB.

I think it's useless to do something in this way. Believe me, 95% of all Steamusers would be 18+ only because of the games. In generally it's a nice idea, but if you are a active Steamplayer you must be 18 ;)

Yeah, I hate that too but I'm guessing it's so they can't be held responsible if a minor gains access under another user's login - it's all about indemnity these days!

you say that like the little enter your DOB changes anything like a 16 year old see thats and goes oh guess i shouldnt play that game that everyones talking about and loving! Adding the ability to just have your DOB added. All im saying is normally putting in that info is easy simple its just a waste of a few seconds of you life. No big deal, as if you are an active steam user it does keep your DOB kept on the submit screen, unless you are like me and had to reformat your computer and Steam doesnt have it auto save, you go into automatic mode push submit like you useually do and oh wait im blocked cause it was the wrong date. Just a pain

hi, am having trouble buying XCOM EU because I forgot to change year of birth from 2012. Now it won't let me into see details of game. Any suggestions?

try logging in from another browser and see if it makes you put in the birthday all over agian. If it doesnt use chrome and go into incogneto mode should allow you to do it then. If that dont work looks like your gonna have to wait till who knows when the reset time is on the birthday lock out. Yep exact reason why i hate not having it saved.

It's just there for legal compliance. There are plenty of underage gamers on here and all they have to do is enter a fake DOB. Heck I often click that I was born in 1908.

When you log in via browser or steam, the cookie will 'save' whatever date you put in. Yous till have to click "OK' but the date/year will be stored in the browsr cookie.

Realize its there for legal compliance but there is plenty of sites that also have to follow a legal compliance that have the birthdays saved so as to not have this problem.

Aw, your first words! How exciting! :P

Seriously though - restarting Steam usually fixes it.

Too much hassle, pretty much steam saves your last option so you just hit OK.
Demons Grace Dec 24, 2012 @ 8:52pm
they dont always save it if you do certain things it resets it and then you think its saved and you automatically push ok and oh no your locked out. Its that mind set that it always saves it that gets you locked out.
But it does save your birthdate.

it saves it slightly if you reinstall or steam or log into steam elsewhere like on a diffrent computer or if you have reformat half anything on your computer it doesnt save it (its saved basically by cookies) so it doesntalways remember it. And because it always seems to remember it its easy to forget to look before you click and then your locked out.

Everybody knows 93% of Steam users are born on January 1st anyway.
