Why is steam suddenly in the local language instead of English?

Yes it's apparently looking at the localization setting and changing the language in the browser version steam. I specifically set my language in windows to English, while I natively speak Dutch, I hate the ridiculous translations of English terminology.

So now to get past this I have to set my location instead of Belgium to the UK or something specifically to not see these ridiculous translations? Please give us the option to attach a preferred language to our profile, or at least transfer it to the browser from our profile (the client still shows it in English, as it should).

I hate this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and it turned me off buying games on freaking Origin (whom even ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up by making it French because lol, less than half the people in Belgium have that as their native language so you're screwed, they finally fixed that after more than a year).

Im not experiencing this. Try going to Settings > Interface and then change the language there.

It's not in steam it's in whatever browser you use if you go to steampowered.com (so no settings. On the other hand on your "account" (top-right) on the webpage you can actually change your preferred language. Still annoying that it suddenly without reason changed it without informing where to change it back. And why, if they recently made that change, it doesn't take the configuration of your steam-client.

If you ever go to a steamcommunity link that is set to another language IN THE LINK, it will change your default language until you change it back. You can change people to all sorts of languages by getting them to click on the profile link.

Eg:
http://steamcommunity.com/?l=english would set your language to english
http://steamcommunity.com/?l=french would set you to french

But you REMAIN at that language until you change it back again!
