how much xp to level?
I thought it was 100 xp for every steam level, but I am level 10 with 1115 xp and it says I still need 85.

does it keep going up exponentially?

is it 200/level until 20 then it jumps to 300?

The answer to your question is yes.

Here is a snippet from the trading card FAQ:

How many badges do I need to increase my Steam Level?
When you get started, each badge you craft will increase your level. Most badges give 100 XP, and it takes 100 XP to get to the next level. The amount needed to level up increases every 10 levels, meaning after Steam Level 10 you'll need 200XP per level, after level 20 you'll need 300XP per level, etc.

Yes.. that is the reason this was system was created. They want money. You can't collect that many badges without paying for them with games, keys or money.

yeah I was gonna try for it until I realized how much i had to spend...I'll probably have to settle for like...level 12 or something lol

There's plenty more reason to go above level 50. I got portal 2 and serious sam 3: bfe for $6 instead of $60 thanks to coupons generated from crafting badges. Spent $40, gained about 1k steam xp, and got $60 game value. So not only did i save $20 I got levels as well. There's also a dozen other coupons I can use to save a lot of money as well. It's a fair trade off to me because it broadens your horizon to try new games.

i crafted several badges all i got was emotes and backgrounds worth a penny on the market.
how many games and cards would you have to buy to get to rank 50? is it worth spending all that just to get a coupon? i mean. i have nothing against buying more games but there's not enough time in the day to play through them all. isnt it a waste to buy a game just to get xp but only play a couple of hours?
What's the dollar$ equivalent of 300XP?

I assume playing against bot in DotA 2 does not giving any point for XP..

thats lile asking how much is a car.

you can craft a badge for 20 cent(100xp) but why would you for XP it is meaningless.

Playing doesn't give SteamXP at all. At least I don't think Valve actually went THAT far to give their own games a better position on Steam.

^ This table should answer any questions.

Every instance of 10 levels thus increases the level-to-level increment of XP required.

Hmm.. Well, I suppose when payday comes around I shall be investing in some cards, and some more games. I swear I will never get used to trading something real for pixels.. I won't be able to take these games with me to the Zombie Apocalypse.. :(

Trading something real for pixels?
You pay money for games (and maybe other content, such as movies or online services) ~ it's the same thing.
