WTF VALVE!?
So I have been an ACTIVE STEAM USER for 9 YEARS!!!!!!!! I have spent over $6000 dollars on steam.

I added $100 to my steam wallet to buy cards and to use during the summer sale. Now I see that I have to wait over a week to make a purchase on the market. I assumed this was because I added a new card.

So to fix this.... I GO ON MY SECOND ACCOUNT, PURCHASE $25 WORTH OF STEAM WALLET THROUGH MY PAYPAL ACCOUNT AND BOOOOOOOOOOM! SAME S**T!

THEN!!!!!!!!!!! I GO INTO TF2 TO BUY KEYS THROUGH THE TF2 STORE(COST ME MORE BTW) ONLY TO SEE THAT I CANNOT EVEN TRADE THE FKN KEYS!?!?!?!

WTF IS THIS S**T?

You dont trust me after 9 years of honest service with no problems on my account WHATSOEVER!?

You dont respect your customers and I find this new policy to be absolutely DISGUSTING.

P.S. I had $25 in my steam wallet before adding the $100, guess what? I cant even use the $25 anymore until the $100 is verified. UNREAL!

You were not duped. The keys will be tradable after a couple of days. This is not, however, a new policy, you just failed to notice it the previous times you bought keys.

I never bought keys and I was NEVER notified prior to the purchase AND in addition its not a couple days...JULY 16..........UNREAL

Don't know if that'll help or not, but someone else recently saw the same thing and he pasted the response he got from support. I'd assume if you contacted them regarding this you'd hear the same thing.

But before you open a support ticket, cool yourself. You won't get any further with an attitude like that. ;) Good luck.

It's a feature to avoid scams. It should be advertised better, i agree, but your funds are not locked. You can use the funds, except on the market.
Satoru Jul 8, 2013 @ 2:29pm
Changing your payment method triggers a 7 day cooldown ON THE MARKET ONLY. It does not care if you're a member for 9 years. Just like the 15 day cooldown on disabling SteamGuard does not care. It's for fraud protection purposes. It WILL NOT be reduced or removed. It ONLY affects the Market.

Valve says that "trusted payment methods" won't need to be verified. LIARS. They're putting this 8-day waiting period for using the marketplace on everyone who adds money to their steam wallet regardless of whether or not the payment method has been used before. This is complete bs and a terrible show of support for loyal customers.

1) Why 8 days? This is over a week, and most customers probably add funds to their steam wallet as needed instead of over a week in advance. I understand a day or so, but over a week? This is ridiculous.
2) Why are the old (remaining) funds also locked instead of just the newly added funds? Block out customer usage of the marketplace completely when I had $10 in my steam wallet but decided to add another $5? Great job. That will surely make me want to use this feature more!
3) No notifcation anywhere? Not even a curtesy warning message? Maybe I would have decided not to add extra funds to my steam wallet if I knew it meant I would be locked out of buying things for a week.
4) Great slap in the face for loyal customers. Nekrage has a right to be angry. Just because the lockout is "only for the marketplace" doesn't make it okay. I understand wanting to verify to avoid scams, but like others have stated...even ebay and paypal would not make their customers wait for 8 days.
Satoru Jul 8, 2013 @ 2:36pm
They are not liars as previous payment methods do not trigger the 7 day cooldown. You can add money to your wallet with a cc or debit card without triggering the cooldown.

IT's 7 days not 8 days

The funds aren't locked. You just can't use them in the Market. You can use them on the store without issue. or in the Mann Co store.

It is not a 'slap in the face' it is a security measure. And the comparison to ebay/paypal is not relevant as they're different markets with different internal purposes.

The cooldown is there for a reason. You can use your funds ANYWHERE else except the Market. I'm CORRECTING you not defending Valve. It's NOT a mistake.

As for why your keys aren't tradeable

https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=6748-ETSG-5417

Why aren’t some of my gifts tradable?

Only gifts that are purchased on trusted accounts can be traded immediately; otherwise there is a 30-day cool down before the gift can be traded. Any account that has made any valid purchase from the Steam Store more than 30 days ago is considered trusted. This is to ensure that all games traded are valuable, and help prevent fraudulent purchases for the purpose of trades. If you do not make a purchase on your Steam account after being labeled as trusted within a year your status will be reset and you will need to wait an additional 30-days before being trusted again.

You're mistakening fraud management mechanism for 'disrepespect' Which it isnt. The rulees apply to all accounts. Years of service does not correlate to 'impossible ot hijack' or 'immune to fraud'

The funds are locked for usage on the Market. So they are locked. That's the issue. That limit should not be there at all or it should be changed for a better customer policy. It doesn't matter if the funds can still be used to buy games or in the Mann. Co. store.

How is the comparison to ebay/paypal not relevent in this situation? The Market is for the Steam user community to exchange items and funds. Ebay and Paypal also have the same functions. Avoiding scams is important, but obviously Valve is not concerning themselves with finding a more efficient way to support customers. Everyone else is doing it better! Awesome. Great job Valve.

It WAS changed for a better company policy. One that protects both the user and themselves better.

The exact same rules would apply to any one of the moderation staff (or anyone else) if we changed our payment method.

Last time i checked eBay didnt allow trading of in-game items.
And God help you if Paypal decides to hold your account for whatever reason (And issue a random chargeback) That day you may discover the true meaning of hell and user disrespect.

It's a SINGLE time restriction placed on a SINGLE payment method. I sincerely believe you're making a mountain out of a mole hill.

So, whenever I add funds to my Steam Wallet I should be locked out of buying what I want for a week even if it's from a previously verified payment method with no warning or notification and I shouldn't complain... gotcha. It's nice to know what I paid for.
Silicon Vampire Jul 8, 2013 @ 3:21pm
No, only when you CHANGE PAYMENT METHODS.

Like when your old card expires, you get a new one. If the numbers are the same, I doubt it would be a big deal. Change numbers and you are going to have to wait 7 days again.
