Steam accounts from 2003
Why does almost every steam account have Ricochet, Half Life, Half Life Opposing Forces, Counterstrike, DoD, TF Classic, and DM Classic?

That's when Steam first came about and was the new way to find servers to play those games on. They were also the only games for Steam at the time.

I vaguely remember trying to play Counterstrike and connecting to a server with my dialup connection before Steam.

Because when steam first appeared, the only way to play Counter Strkie, Half-life and so on was to enter your retail CD key into steam and you got the Half-life platinum pack (been so long ago I could be wrong).

If I can remember rightly, valve switched off the WON servers about this time and the only way for players to play Counter Strike was to play via steam.

There was 3 packs back then. Bronze, Silver and Platinum or it was called Gold.

Bronze had Half-Life 2 and Counter Strike Source
Silver had more
Platinum would have all. I think you also got access to every Valve game that came after it.
now there is the valve complete bundle.

I remember we got in on TF2 Beta but that was the only unreleased game in the bundle IIRC.
Edit: And Lost Coast.

:gordon: because steam accounts from 2003 are owned by OGs :gordon:

Or sold for a few dollars and bought by folks chasing clout on Steam.

The bought ones are pretty obvious.

Daily reminder that ppl in 2004 used to complain and cry to valve becuase they had to make a Steam account to play that half life 2 garbage even if they bought the game physically

Where are these ppl now XD
I cant see anyone complaining about having to make a Steam account in order to play now lmao

Also want to remind how in 2019 ppl complained and cried to valve becuase half life alyx was VR exclusive and they had to get a VR set to play...

Will history repeat itself like in 2004? 💀

Because Valve started Steam as a charity where they gave those games, among others, away back in 2003.
Here's the real mystery- this seems to be the last thing posted by OP. What happened?
