PC sales are decreasing fast.
Ever since the origin of the smartphones, tablets, and netbooks, PCs have been hit hard.
They are an endangered species, on the verge of disappearance.

The only thing that could save them is the production of good PC games. Since Steam is arguably in the top 8 (maybe even top 5) of all the digital gaming-software distribution companies, they hold a large part of the burden of reviving PCs. Yet, it seems like the creation of Steambox may further bury the PC market. You tell me.

Definitely no, but lets just wait and see what exactly the steambox is
No. Smartphones and tablets can't compete with the RAM and storage of a PC. I have seen little to no school/business related programs available on the little things. Netbooks are a step from a laptop, and I rather just count them as a computer. If PC was to go out of date it would so because something is better adapted to do what it does, and if that is the case, why stay with it? It would be like carrying around the little chalkboards when we have paper.

I'd love to see some numbers on that.
Most of those people purchasing those devices don't play computer games. Remember, the number one use of these devices is surfing the internet and porn.

Yes, I remember this topic . . . from about 8 years ago.

Then there was that topic from 10 years ago that said brick and mortar stores would all be gone by 2010.

Good times.

I guess they missed the discussion with Gabe and Steam.

Actually there are some tablets such as the Razer Gaming Tablet that are at average laptop grade preformacnes and play skyrim and AC3. Plus Project sheild lets you take Steam all around your house with the added benifit of Google play and Teregra Zone
*Continued

Face it, everything we need for computing is going to be able to fit into our pockets some day. The flexable and potentially collapsable screen could help do that.
THE MORE POPULAR GAMES ,WILL ALLWAYS BE PLAYED ON THE PC,AS WELL AS CONSOLE,ACTION GAMES NEED PLENTY OF RESOURCE,NOT FOR TABLETS OR PHONES.
Little do people know mobile gaming and pc gaming will eventually merge in to one entity. Technology will eventually meet at singularity, we will have a machine that will fit in your pocket that is a console, a touch device, and a high grade pc. There is no such thing as the death of "pc gaming" it will simply combine with something else.

Is this a pc gaming is dying thread yet again? In 20 years they'll still be around, consoles will not however. Steamstation isn't going to make the slightest dent at all in sales.

As I've mentioned, only gaming PCs will remain. The rest will be replaced with mobile gadgets. Subsequently, I don't see how the PC market can survive long solely on the sale of video-games.

The people who replace their computers with tablets are not the people that the PC gaming market have been relying on the last 5-10 years.
