Why don't people like/buy Max Payne 3?
Correct me if I am wrong, but as I discovered Max Payne 3 had terrible sale stats (they are selling more GTA4 than Max Payne 3 nowdays, but the prices are not so different), and I don't undersatand why. In my oppinion it is a fantastic game...

Many people also balk about how Max Payne 3's cut scenes seem to be everywhere in the game. Several cut scenes happen in the middle of the action and it can get a bit jarring. Also, a good number of cut scenes aren't skippable so you have to watch them every time you play. I heard the story is good, however, and the combat isn't too bad. It comes down to what kind of gaming experience you want.

I will admit that I really don't like Rockstar Social Club anymore and I won't buy games that make me use it. If you're going to implement a feature which can (if you want) use a constant connection to the Internet, then I expect it to work properly. And it glitches even with a constant connection.

One more thing since people were talking about New Coke. New Coke's taste is essentially what's being used as the formula for Diet Coke without the sugar.

game is way too big, price is too hight, drm intrusive. not for me.
i dont know if Social Club is needed to play, but if yes its another negative point.
Social Club is needed, but why is it matter? If you played GTA IV you have a Social Club account. Or if you want to play with GTAV you have to make a social club account (and anyway, it is less than 5 minutes).
But I didn't heard about the Install limits...Do you know how many is the Install limit? Or what happens if I use all of my Installs? I have to buy the game again to play? o.O
It is said to be 5 machine install limits. If you use up all 5 limits, you cannot simply activate this game any more which means you can no longer play it with your current steam account. Also that you cannot buy the game again with the same steam account means you are basically saying Bye-Bye to Max Payne 3 when you finish up 5 limits
Are you sure about that there is a limit on Steam as well? Because at the Max Payne 3's homepage there isn't any sign of this 5 Install limitation...

The truth is that Max Payne 1 and 2 weren't that good. I believe they are looked back on as classic, mainly for their introduction to the use of bullet time as a game play feature. Back then the slow-mo dive / bullet ballet was new and exciting.

You can say that now. Back then, when MP1 and MP2 hit the street, they were AMAZING.

If anything, I blame that awful movie for killing the franchise. LOL

I agree at the time they were fantastic. I remember my first bullet time kill shot pretty vividly along with the HOT DAMN feeling that came with it. However I feel that it has not aged well either in terms of story or game mechanics.

That's a fair point. Games from that era usually don't age well. I recently installed UT2003 just for kicks but was seriously underwhelmed.

Why do people hate on Rockstar Social Club? I like how it keeps track of all my ♥♥♥♥♥.

I already have Steam to keep track of 'all my ♥♥♥♥♥.' I understand if they want to use their own matchmaking service for MP, but for SP I don't want to be forced to create and log in to yet another account that has to run in the background, chewing up resources, while I play the game.

Since so many of us like clients to manage our games for us, publishers should offer a choice between a RSC/Uplay/Origin/GFWL/whatever-only version, Steamworks, and drm-free. Just don't start stacking one platform on top of another- it's obtrusive, superfluous, and obtuse.

Of course I'll purchase the game before I play it, but it's shenanigans like these that still justify the continued availability of cracked/drm-free versions (or taking the drm out yourself). The bottom line is that when you're one of the "good guys" and pay for your game, you should at the very least get a superior version, not a more clunky one. I haven't even gotten to the matter of installation limits, much less hidden ones that are not made known to the customer at the point of sale...

That damned uplay hooked me with Splinter Cell:Conviction. Uplay has some add-ons for the game that aren't available anywhere else -- in particular, Infiltration Mode. That and the SCAR-H (automatic rifle) were game-changers.

Sadly, Ubisoft hasn't delivered much else for the game.

The install limits are the big killer for me. I'm not a fan of DRM but I'll tolerate most of it, but install limits I will not. I bought the game, not leasing it.

Totally agree! That is why i am not buying Crysis Warhead.

graphic is good story is good but...( following words is my general complaint towards this generation games) its not very fun . i see little action between long cutscenes and narratives

its like u are not playing game, rather becoming observer and being forced to feel agonies and pains of main characters

Ive installed the game multiple games(more than 5) over different computers. I have had the game since launch, never had a problem with install limits.

I gifted it to someone before Christmas, but for me personally the download size was the decisive factor that prevented me from buying it for myself.
yeeyoh 2013 年 1 月 30 日 下午 7:11
I've not been too excited since the game does not have the same graphic novel the first 2 did. Since reading this post it seems like they've been replaced by rather long winded unskipable cut scenes. Also I've found out through reading this post about the huge download size, that's another negative.
I am a huge fan of the first 2 games, this one just never made me think of it as a Max Payne game... I'm not even sure it has the film noir style voice overs. I'll probably end up getting just to check it out but I'm not in a hurry.

All this talk about download size made me check mine. 35GB. Wow. That's a pretty hefty game.

I think its interesting that the two veins of game design of late seem to be a) massive story but limit player input so that they cant mess up the story and b) massive world with weak story so that the players meandering won't significantly alter the story in any way.

There is a middle ground out there. Skyrim with a stronger narrative. This generation of games (maybe even this year) has been, in my opinion, stronger than the last 20. Sure, each generation has to build on the one prior but Skyrim, where a WORLD exists and you can do anything in it. Far Cry 3, building on years and years of FPS and delivering a world and a shooter. Spec Ops (and maybe Max Payne 3) for demanding a narrative stronger than any video game that came before it (arguably)

The best game of the next year could goto anyone. I think that it is going to require someone to figure out the open world and somehow manage to tie open world mechanics to a tight narrative experience. I don't know how you have a driving narrative and still allow the player to walk away and explore the world but the smart M'fer that figures it out will be the person all future games steal from.

Just Cuz I'm Kuasi don't mean I'm Crazy
