Easy "entry level" platformer?
I'm looking for an easy, not overly frustrating platformer (action or puzzle) to introduce someone to the genre. Something that plays well, looks somewhat pretty and is not "annoying" or difficult. (That is: Not Dustforce, SMB, They Bleed Pixels, Giana Sisters, etc. :p)

The Abe games are pretty cheap and I'd say they are pretty easy and also pretty fun. You can get a pack of two from Steam, Abes Odysee and Abes Exodus.

Cave Story is what made me rediscover my love for platformers .. since it provides a nice story to go along with the platforming. You can even get the original version for free (or the Plus version here on Steam through the Humble Bundle currently).

Except for the final boss battle at the end the Game is pretty easy and you get several opportunities in the game to adjust the difficulty by certain choices you make (i.e. which weapons/tools you pick at which point in time), and this in turn also influences which game-ending you'll be able to achieve. (Yes there are multiple ones!)

Yeah i Agree with you they are very unforgiving great games though
I was browsing game deals and came across Sugar Cube Bittersweet Factory. Description said it was easy to play. It's $2.37 for the Steam version at Green Man Gaming website.

Oozi, from the groupees build-a-greenlight bundle would have fit this perfectly.

Eversion is pretty nice, though it does get relatively challenging as you progress.
