Does Civilization IV work on Windows 7??
Hello

I'm hoping someone can help me - I'm wanting to get the Civilization IV Pack on Flash Sale.. and therefore I got to be quick.

Has any here played Civilization IV on Windows 7 64 bit - did it work??

yes, but amazon has a better sale right now if you dont have civ5 and have any interest in stronghold.

I've never purchased of amazon , I would have to learn how it works etc which takes time

BTW do you need to run in compatibility mode or does it just work in Win 7??

You literally just make an account (if you don't already have one), buy the bundle, and then goto your games and click on the button that shows the game product key and input it into Steam and it unlocks the game. It's incredibly simple.

I hope so.. Amazon is a big company too so it should be safe.. where is this button that shows the game product key in the Steam client software?

I'm finding the Amazon website confusing , that's why I stay away from some companies..

I have found the digital games section , but something about it being available for people in the US..

BTW the Amazon site is appalling compared to Steam.. they are light years behind..

Yes, Amazon's digital downloads are officially for U.S. residents only. However, many people from other countries have bought games there by just putting in an American address (i.e. the White House, or Google headquarters). That works for most people as Amazon doesn't scrutinize it too much but a few have run into problems, so YMMV. If you know someone in the US that would be best.

The pack Halfmoonsmile is referring to is the "2K Strategy Super Pack"[www.amazon.com] which is currently $19.99, or $14.99 w/ publisher coupon if you bought a 2K game there in the past year, but it doesn't sound like you did so nvm. If you have a bit more money there is also the "2K Mega Pack"[www.amazon.com] for $29.99. Both bundles include Steam codes for all their games, except CivCity: Rome in the Mega Pack.

Regarding their website, I agree, the search and sorting options could do with some improvement. However, I can get past it because their sales are light years ahead of Valve's this season.

Civ4 works wonderfully in Windows 7. No need for compatibility mode and such. It's really not THAT old. :) Awesome game and a steal at the current price. Much better game than Civ5, too. Check civfanatics.com when you need help or look for a good Civ-centric community.

I just need to explain what happened last nite.. the thing about these Sales is that you got to think fast sometimes you got to SLEEP and when you wake up that offer will be vanished.

I just did not have the time to look into Amazon , TBH I got stressed and wasted an hour there.. and I needed to log off and go to bed.

I have to research proper before I join a site and I just didn't have the time when I saw the Civilization offer.. TBH some sites I would NEVER join it doesn't make a difference how cheap the offer is.

If I get the time ill try to look into Amazon and how it works etc.. I got the Civilization Pack from Steam it's a good price so I'm happy.

Oh I forgot to add , I probably would feel a bit scared if I gave a US address etc when I lived in the UK.. I understand people do it for throw away emails etc.. but when I buy stuff I like to do stuff proper I guess I'm a bit square.

So you just installed it with no special conditions or anything? It just worked? I installed it with the disk originally and it didn't work at all. It was horribly frustrating. Have been thinking about buying it on steam but I don't want to if it doesn't work. What are your computer specs?
