Updating steam games manually
I've seen a few similar threads on here, but nothing that answers my question. My uni's internet blocks steam, so I have a mi-fi so I can have my own personal internet. However, the mi-fi only has a bandwidth limit of 5 gb per month, so I can't download any big updates on it. Right now, I need to patch DotA 2, is there any way I can download the patch and install it manually?

No. Data 2 requires an internet connection and the latest patch whenever you play.

I realize that. That much is obvious. What I am asking is if there is any way to download the patch files on my own (not through steam) and manually input the files.

The patch: No

The entire game: Yes

You could have a friend install and update on his computer, Copy all of the files to an external Hard Drive.

Then take the drive home and exit steam, replace your DOTA 2 Files with the copies on the external drive, and then restart steam. You might need to verify the game after you restart steam.

So there is no way to download the patch from the internet outside of steam. I figured as much, I just wanted to make sure. Thanks for your help.
