Pending founds debate (actually Valve debate)
Steam / Valve is such a company that tend to shift the responsibility from them to the user.
They are lazy and out of creativity, seems like their programmers are the worst in the market (thats what happened when you pay 1/3 of the salery for a programmer.)

Valve can't seem to create a normally anti cheat, so they move forward with "overwatch" system, as I said, responsibility moves from Valve to the user.

everything has to be done by implementing the worst user experience possible.

I genuinely don't understand how this company still exist.

Pending funds is a small safeguard to ensure the funds you are receiving are clean. This prevents fraudulent transactions and means money you receive cannot be taken away. Previous, if funds were found to be fraudulent, the seller would end up losing the money, any items/games bought with the proceeds and likely not get their item back.

Waiting 1-2 days is way better than running the risk or having the transaction cancelled especially when it comes to high value items.

Every other company got the same treatment but some of them almost a decade earlier than Steam. That is how they still exist. They're the best still around.

Well no expertise and a lack of imagination on your part would explain your issue with understanding pretty simply.
