when did Steam become moderated by reddit staff?
Only reddit has more ban-happy and power tripping mods than Steam Community, which thankfully still can't apply any permanent bans except for scammers and real criminals.

I remember well that bans were given only to serious harassers, spammers and toxic Aholes that threw profanity and insults in every post.
Nowadays even the slighted hint of disrespect is enough for a ban,

called someone a clown - 2 week ban
said that i hate russia because of their war crimes - 4 week ban
called someone a liar - 3 week ban
made a political topic in Off Topic - 1 week ban
called someone a terrorist scum because they were justifying murder - 2 month ban.

what the hell happened? how is this allowed??
i thought only people aged 16+ are allowed to use steam, so why is our speech policed like we're in a kindergarten???
not even facebook and twitter were this bad!

Well, was it constructive or no? If not, kinda have your answer right there.

Being "stupid" isn't an insult. It more like skill issue. Getting banned for saying "stupid" is ridiculous.
I mean, do you feel actively calling LGBT+ folk evil warrants a ban?

Nice bait there. No comment...

No bait, I'm providing examples of what people personally may feel is or isn't against the rules, regardless to what the rules actually state.

Calling someone stupid, or being insulting...is against the rules, regardless of personal feelings.

But if you're unwilling to partake in the discussion, that's on you.

it wasn't just calling someone stupid though... it was like saying "this is stupid" would get you warned/banned lol

in the context that it was an opinion related to the thing being called stupid, yes.

not every opinion has to be positive to be constructive.

sometimes things are just stupid... like trying to ban people for saying things are stupid.

I might have missed some context, Animus but surely calling anyone evil is against the rules?

You'd think so, certainly. And it is on Steam, however that won't stop certain folk from doing it, due to their religious beliefs of personal bias. I was using a personalized example related to Yankees for them to relate better to the topic.

He was baiting. What he was saying it against the rules to speak out against LGBT or gender related subjects. Best to block and move on.

How you say something is just as important as WHAT you say, I'm sure most people are capable of critiquing something without calling it stupid, no?

They weren't baiting, it's a mere yes or no question.

Nope, context was whether or not calling people of the demographic EVIL or not, is against the rules. It is.

You can freely critique LGBT+ topics or altering lifestyles without resorting to insults.

You should see what people call Trump.

Plus some people like using the word "Nazi" to describe people they disagree with.

that's what the rules are for, stop raising the bar to oppress opinions you don't like.

long history of people doing that... sometimes using words like stupid in the context you're opposing... kinda ironic you share their opinions.

Present them in a manner that doesn't break ToS?

He has a point though. You cannot get reported for suggesting that you feel an opinion is ill-informed.
