when did Steam become moderated by reddit staff?
Only reddit has more ban-happy and power tripping mods than Steam Community, which thankfully still can't apply any permanent bans except for scammers and real criminals.

I remember well that bans were given only to serious harassers, spammers and toxic Aholes that threw profanity and insults in every post.
Nowadays even the slighted hint of disrespect is enough for a ban,

called someone a clown - 2 week ban
said that i hate russia because of their war crimes - 4 week ban
called someone a liar - 3 week ban
made a political topic in Off Topic - 1 week ban
called someone a terrorist scum because they were justifying murder - 2 month ban.

what the hell happened? how is this allowed??
i thought only people aged 16+ are allowed to use steam, so why is our speech policed like we're in a kindergarten???
not even facebook and twitter were this bad!

We even have a user that admits to mass reporting, he has a small group of minions that report and even make support tickets to fake report people they don't like. I call him games for friends live as they like to buy friends with steam gifts in exchange they get commanded to report people that he doesn't like. Yes very sad yes it's mass reporting

I don't think you understand the gravity of the situation. It's not mere "small group". I am on the side of the majority and based on personal experience, I would say that comment not be believable. Until you acknowledged the reality, there's nothing to discuss.
i dont think you understand what others understand, do you understand?

That's ironic.
it's pretty crazy how they just let these community mods do whatever they want... the censorship is kinda out of control.

they let community moderators do whatever they want.
(and proceed to claim they "aren't abusing moderator privilages" no less >.>
though I guess if you're allowed to do whatever you want it's hard to abuse moderator privilages...)

I think the biggest issue is individual games discussions are moderated by the devs own staff so if they dislike you they can and these days they often will instantly perma ban you without any reason being given.

These bans are often 'Reddit mod' style bans, where they simply dislike you so they can ban you. This is a big problem in that these bans will harm your entire account and if you get 3 of them your account is automatically community banned which is insanely unfair if this is based on Reddit mod level frivolous bans.
Love the anger pahaha

ya, it's kinda a problem...

(though steam "took another look" at the situation and lifted the ban like half a day later... as you can see :P)

Yeah I have had this too but the problem is it really depends on whether the Valve mod you get looks at the ban reason in the first place. I have been unlucky in the past (not this account) with them giving me a reply that indicated they didn't even read my appeal so I just gave up bothering.

When the Reddit mods have power on Steam, it is a massive problem and I already started a thread about how ridiculous bans due to overzealous Reddit mod types and up in bans exactly like this.

If Valve are going to allow these Reddit mod types to apply instant perma bans with ZERO explanation, then they need to look at the automated community bans like this. It is getting unfair at this point
k it's time to revive this thread again because i was banned AGAIN and this time i did nothing wrong.
there expression of negativity towards an induvidual is enough to get banned, this is insane

here's the comment in question - i was defending Kingdom Come Deliverence from moronic "wokeness" accusations. the only reason i see for the ban is accusing the opponent of being racist... because he couldn't stand the game having a black character.

Ursprünglich geschrieben von jolly jew:
i don't assume everybody is a racist. i merely make a logical deduction that everyone who hates musa are racist, because there is no other logical reason to hate him and be angry at his inclusion in the game.
Even if he is a token character, which i dont deny, he doesn't harm the game and it's world in any way, he is interesting, his presence in bohemia is completely reasonable and having a man of foreign culture makes the world feel more alive.
and if you really cant stand him this much, just don't talk to him and skip the 2-3 cutscenes he appears in the main story

but nah, he's just "bizzare and insufferable tool" why? because ew black man in muh white game. come now, stop trying to fool yourself and everyone around you, no sane person would get so worked up over a SINGLE NPC

this also proves that just like it's impossible to appease to woke lefties, it's impossible to appease to woke righties

how the hell is this inflammatory? "likely to create arguement"??? the whole thread was a argument! disagreeing is now an offense?
this cannot go on like this

Because Reddit mentality is actually online mentality. It's like that everywhere. It's the generation we have right now.
Yup, Steam mods and Steam Support are the worst things about Steam. I've complained to Gaben to no avail.

Gaben likely do not pay attention to his Twitter, and likely enact block because he will not listen to reason, same for Valve moderator that will ignore and refuse to give valid explanation.

Gaben gives out his email address and tells people to email him.

His email is: gaben@valvesoftware.com

He replies sometimes. He replied to me.
