its an AIO update pack loaded with microsoft updates from POS win 7 and (from what im told) windows server updates (which make up the bulk of the updates), so technically it is from microsoft, its just packaged in an AIO installer from a third party.
if wanted, people could simply go grab the updates themselves from the microsoft update catalog and do it all manually.
People often talk without knowing or at least trying to get knowledge about what they are talking about ... he would'nt said that if at least he had downloaded the file, extracted it content or just realise the file is digitaly signed ...
true, they dont like proving themselves wrong though, so they will continue down the path they created.
i havent looked that far into it and i also dont know much about server windows OS, or how it works with win 7 updates? same kernel im guessing?
edit: yep "windows server OS" runs same kernel as win 7.
in any case, we know that the file is perfectly fine and the updates are from microsoft.
One really nice advantage it have over the current one is also the place it took in winsxs ..
that what i've asked you some weeks ago if you remember ... normal update get this nasty folder at 16go when using updatepack only 9go ...

Not very aware about digital signature but i do not think digicert or ssl do that for a malware or a random joe ...
in any case, nothing wrong with using an AIO installer to install a bundle of updates/etc.., but also people can simply scan their downloads and the links, as anyone should be doing when practicing safety on the internet.
heck you can even use a secondary desktop/laptop (in numerous ways and if unsafe or infects can easily be wiped, sandboxed, VM, or image wipe and clean image booting installed directly or portable on a usb flash drive,) that you can easily scan stuff, before moving it to your main (assuming its safe).
you can even go over board, link scan it and scan it before you download it, then download and install a portable antivirus on another flash drive, download said file directly onto its own flash drive (obviously still not opened), reboot into the portable antivirus and scan the file on the other usb flash drive, then after its done boot into windows, scan again with w/e windows provides and/or third parties you have....
then scan more and then a bit more after that... maybe more after that?...
in any case, no matter where you download there is always a chance you can be infected (legit sites or not), but if you need to be that safe, you can easily check it many ways, before even opening something you downloaded.
This one ?

i 've discovered it last december unfortunately too late for me
not from github.
but ya, been using aio's for those runtimes (etc..) for years now, saved tons of time.
though, since i started using that iso editor, i can have all of that stuff (or various other stuff) installed along with the OS, while removing/disabling/enabling/settings/etc.. all the stuff i dont want.
cute
you opened up everything and ran through all the coding that was there?
you made sure there was not one line of extra something in all of that?
please read what i said again,
i said i am all for "you" having fun with your 7
i love that pc's allow for people to do it
part of what makes em awesome
using a third party patch to use a windows security update is risky
notice i did not say that this one is dangerous, right?
i was simply stating that the op should be telling people this is not an official patch
but a work around to get an update to work
So my apologize for misinterpreting what you said.
Trrue it's not an official patch i guess we are all agree about that. Nonetheless nowhere , even our OP @Master.Constructor have wrote here that updatepack is an official update or may be i am wrong ?
no troubles, it happens
i know you are passionate about this
about the op
they should be telling people that it is a third party making this work
it is just the right thing to do
i am not passionate about that, i just do not like when i read bs from any side because we are not here to read bs from other people and waste our time doing that, there is better thing to do than that imo...
i guess it's like everything you can download from internet :
use it at your own risk
the pack is using https://nsis.sourceforge.io/Main_Page so feel free to decompile and come back with feedback
