Windows 7 April Update
July UpdatePack7 2024.7.10 is out and is running fine for me. I've installed it on several of my Win7 machines and no issues to report.

I'm sure that there are many Win7 users out there that are unaware of these monthly updates. My experience has been very good since I started using them in 2021. One download will update a fresh install of Windows 7 SP1 to current day (or you can update the ISO before installing). Save time and bandwidth, it's basically SP2.

Steam seems fine. No real issues to report.

If you have any suggestions on improving the stability or utility of Windows 7 please share with us.

hello
So the same for updatepack , after the tool say installled and update finished xd
Unfortunately no, it is not the same thing as UpdatePack7. That does not contain any new updates for Windows 7 (Home, Pro, or Ultimate). Which means it does not actually install or update anything.

hello
it does as i clearly tryed to explain you and from what posted our OP.
As i allready told you tthat you can easily verify by yourself the spectre of applicability of the windiws7 embedded standard os range by downloading any update and unzipping it and read file pkgProperties.txt as you never and don't want to test it under a vm
windows 6.1 sp1 is nothing else than windows 7
And if it does not install anything why are you here still complaing about it ?

I have tried (so much trying) to explain this to you. It seems you still do not understand so I will try to explain it to you YET AGAIN: The "new updates" inside of UpdatePack7 are ONLY FOR WINDOWS EMBEDDED STANDARD 7. Those updates are NOT for Windows 7 Home, Pro, or Ultimate. Those updates are NOT intended for Windows 7 Home, Pro, or Ultimate. They should not be installed in Windows 7 Home, Pro, or Ultimate.

Those updates are for a DIFFERENT version of Windows 7. UpdatePack7 modifies the installer packages to allow the wrong updates for the wrong version of windows to be installed in Windows 7 Home, Pro, or Ultimate.

As I said above: UpdatePack7 Does not contain any NEW updates for Windows 7 Home, Pro, or Ultimate.

There are no new updates for Windows 7 Home, Pro, or Ultimate. No such update was released from microsoft. No such updates will ever be released from microsoft. UpdatePack7 will NEVER have any new updates for Windows 7 Home, Pro, or Ultimate. It can't possibly contain any because no such update exists.

It's been a few pages since the last time this was posted and I think now is a good time to repeat it again seeing as we still (yet again.. *sigh*) have people attempting to mislead the public and claim UpdatePack7 contains updates for Windows 7.

To anyone that is finding this thread for the first time and just jumped to the end there is some very important information you must know:

UPDATEPACK7 DOES NOT UPDATE WINDOWS 7. IT DOES NOT CONTAIN ANY NEW UPDATES FOR WINDOWS 7. THERE ARE NO NEW UPDATES FOR WINDOWS 7. THERE WILL NEVER BE ANY NEW UPDATES FOR WINDOWS 7 FROM MICROSOFT EVER AGAIN. ANYONE CLAIMING TO HAVE ANY UPDATES FOR WINDOWS 7 ARE LYING TO YOU. UPDATEPACK7 WILL HARM YOUR COMPUTER. DO NOT INSTALL IT.

Updates from Windows Embedded Standard 7 are NOT compatible with Windows 7 Home, Pro, or Ultimate. They should not be installed on Windows 7 Home, Pro, or Ultimate.

Microsoft explicitly states that those updates ONLY for Windows Embedded Standard 7. NOT FOR ANY OTHER VERSION OF WINDOWS.

Which part of this are you having difficulty understanding?

You're the one actively writing BS in this forum thread. I still can't believe you actually tried to lie to people in public by saying UpdatePack7 contains new updates for Windows 7 when you know it doesn't. 🤪

It's a good thing I'm here to combat all of the complete lies and bull💩 that's commonly posted in this thread. Hopefully I can help inform people to completely avoid this UpdatePack7 nonsense that does nothing.

well steam deleted it's self from my win7 system at the beginning of the month...
seems they flipped the killswitch.

kinda scary they can just modify your files without your permission... steam malware ftw.

if you want it back go into previous folder versions within the last month and restore it before it's gone.

pretty scummy move, valve.

Not at all , it is going to be not compatible pretty soon, all had a pretty long notice before that and also a full whole year with a red warning txt to do something about it.

I don't care if it doesn't work(which it does BTW), I don't like things being removed from my computer without my knowledge or consent.

If you think it is going to be working for years to come then you are mistaken, same thing will happen as before with xp and previous os. One day you will wake up and it will be broken and not being able to log in or use it no more .

and I still expect it to be there on that day...

besides, I already have a win11 machine I play games on, all I wanted to do was grab a backup of a game instead of spending like 6 hours re-downloading it only to find steam has deleted it's self.

so you can just give the whole "one day steam won't work on win7" thing a rest.
I still expect the files to be there.
