Windows 7 April Update

July UpdatePack7 2024.7.10 is out and is running fine for me. I've installed it on several of my Win7 machines and no issues to report.

I'm sure that there are many Win7 users out there that are unaware of these monthly updates. My experience has been very good since I started using them in 2021. One download will update a fresh install of Windows 7 SP1 to current day (or you can update the ISO before installing). Save time and bandwidth, it's basically SP2.

Steam seems fine. No real issues to report.

If you have any suggestions on improving the stability or utility of Windows 7 please share with us.

Update: New Steam client on June 13 seems to be working better than previous.
Update: UpdatePack7 24.6.12 (June 2024) is delivering as expected.

Yep! That is exactly what they are doing. Microsoft has not released an update for Windows 7 since Feb 2023. But they keep pushing these modified embedded-7 updates as "A NEW UPDATE FOR WINDOWS 7!". It's laughable really.

Just wait and watch. I betcha in august when they release a new update for Windows 7 Embedded that they will come into this thread and gloat about how "Updatepack7 has new updates!" And "Get it to update your windows 7 now!" LOL

And yet somehow OP doesn't get banned for piracy discussion.

Update for windows embe , these updates cause instability and are not compatible on others versions . Forcing something that is not meant to run on a system is not a good idea

And in terms of update no it isnt

maybe you have a point but, we have to tell the difference between different things. not intended updates is not technically piracy.

Yes, this does make sense. I will take a more in-depth look into the next UpdatePack7 that should be out soon (August). I've never looked into which system files were being updated but I do find it interesting.

That's not how windows works. You can't "adapt" updates for a different version of windows and then install em or it will screw up your computer. Updates are only able to ever be used for the version of windows that microsoft says they to be installed in. If it doesn't say Windows 7 then they can't be used in Windows 7.

Fortunately for this we do not need to know a whole lot about anything. Microsoft does it for us. Microsoft tells us right there on the microsoft website which version of windows the updates are intended for. If it says Win7 embedded then the updates go in win7 embedded. If the updates DO NOT say Windows 7 then the updates do not go into windows 7.

It's super simple. Even you can understand that part.

About what I said earlier: UpdatePack7 can not possibly ever have any updates for windows 7 because microsoft isn't releasing any updates for windows 7. That should be very simple for anyone to understand.

Updating the core system files of NT 6.1.7601 should not be confusing nor should the appearance of my posts in my thread.

If you believe that Microsoft's updates to this OS are garbage then I urge you to contact them and seek resolution to your frustrations.

The difference is that @xBCxRangers is running steam on a old potatos with very low spec if i remember well and using the current steam release if he did not used the steam.cfg (which i guess he never used despite i've told him to do so many times xD ) will have as following result to use a steam uptodate release but that is using 400mo+ on his computer for the exact same thing : launching his game.
