Windows 7 April Update

[Master.Constructor]

July UpdatePack7 2024.7.10 is out and is running fine for me. I've installed it on several of my Win7 machines and no issues to report.

I'm sure that there are many Win7 users out there that are unaware of these monthly updates. My experience has been very good since I started using them in 2021. One download will update a fresh install of Windows 7 SP1 to current day (or you can update the ISO before installing). Save time and bandwidth, it's basically SP2.

Steam seems fine. No real issues to report.

If you have any suggestions on improving the stability or utility of Windows 7 please share with us.

Update: New Steam client on June 13 seems to be working better than previous.
Update: UpdatePack7 24.6.12 (June 2024) is delivering as expected.

A good suggestion is not downloading things from internet strangers that work on a kernel level.

What is working on a kernel level and how could you know that without testing it ?

That is how all Windows updates work. If they do not work like that, you are getting scammed. If they do and they're not from Microsoft, you are getting scammed.

only drivers and ntoskrnl.exe have right to play on kernel level and some nasty rootkit sometimes

I imagine you're fine with these "nasty rootkits"? Because that's what these updates are. They are not official updates so I certainly would not trust ANY of it on my PC.

nope, thats not what those updates are, they are microsoft updates, simply packaged in an AIO.

you do know microsoft downloads, or any other "official" downloads can also be malicious and have whats called "drive by" placement of virus/malware right?

see, it seems people here like to make claims of things being bad, yet have no clue how all this stuff works...

A drive-by download attack is a cyber threat technique that allows threat actors to install malicious programs onto devices without user-initiated downloads.

you can also get viruses/malware from popups, ads, scripts and much more, almost anywhere and everywhere on the internet

anywho, i have been using pc's since the early 80's, i dont need advice from people on where or what i can download.

also, thats what link scanners and internet file scanning is for, or downloading to a contained drive (example being a usb flash drive) with the file unopened and scanned outside the OS environment with portable antivirus software, or inside the OS environment with built-in or third party antivirus software.

in any case, stop trying to spin stuff about downloading on the internet, when you cant be bothered to learn how all this works.
