No SMS authentication for money adding to wallet?
Hey peeps,

Today I added 10 Euro to my Steam account, however this time there was no SMS authentication what was before. I just get the money on my Steam wallet.

Note: Im using Win7 x64 Pro
I wonder if this related to no support to Win7 since january 1 or it is a new thing on Steam what affect everyone?

What is your experience with adding money to wallet?

There is no need to authenticate: you are GETTING something; nothing is TAKEN from your account.

"boring advice?

running win7, especially now, is a major security risk

Well there was an authentication before. Every time I sent money to my wallet from my credit then I got an SMS code what had to be used alonside with my telecode for the transaction.
Now there was nothing, just money popped to my steam wallet.

However it was not the question in this thread.

none of us know why you didn't get it, you have to ask steam support

and since win7 isn't supported by steam anymore, they'll just tell you they can't help you cause you're using unsupported software

But that was from your bank because you used the credit card, right?

Steam doesn't decide that your credit card company does.

Maybe, I dont know. Strangely this non authenticated money transfer happened on another game launcher ages ago, but it was always SMS based on Steam as far as I remember. It was just strange this not happened today. Surely I will contact my bank RL in next week about security hardening and this issue.

It's a win7 problem, stop using win7. That's the answer. If you want to hear it officially, ask steam support and not random forum users. Steam support will tell you to stop using win7.

You've been told the answer to your problem, anything beyond that is you just talking in circles while using the wrong operating system.

win7 isn't supported, there's nothing else to discuss until you fix that problem. k thx bye. :steambored:

If not then thanks for your contribution.

I've never heard of having to do 2FA to add funds so that's weird in the first place, obviously this would be a Steam backend thing not a W7 thing anyways.

I was at my bank yesterday. They said this 2FA there the beginning with purchases and if I keep using it on same platform (like Steam) then it disabled after a while. Somekind of whitelisting the platform.
