Continuous Cloud Sync error since update
Last update screwed up my cloud sync so it keeps trying to upload the same crap over and over.

The few times I've gotten this, I just had to restart Steam.

Are you closing steam the X or exiting it using the Steam top left exit and log in again.
Go to Steam top left >settings>Cloud> check the Enable Steam Cloud synchronization for applications that support it is enablled.
Restart Steam

May I say that since yesterday many, many players have exactly the same problem?
Many players lost all their save files due to a wrong Steam Cloud update.

For me I lost the save files of Witcher 3. All files since last September. Hundreds of ingame hours. Luckily I had another local save also, but this should not happen. Cloud is supposed to save the files, not delete them.

This is not just the thread opener, this happened to many. And Steam ignores the problem.

Steam moved all my documents to another location, although I was able to recover them the saves were missing the partner SKSE file, in other words only the ESS file was available. even though I have the cloud disabled, they just move in and do what they want.

Steam Cloud uses Microsoft OneDrive to sync between your machine's storage and Microsoft's servers dedicated to Valve's services. It doesn't matter if you don't have a OneDrive account, or if you ever activated it on your machine, Steam activated it for you during the first install.

Microsoft had an incident in August 2023 and it messed up OneDrive pretty bad. Since Steam's user base is automatically opt-in, the issue keeps reinfecting Valve's servers and subsequently the user base's machines.

I'd be more concerned if Steam worked properly.

For me - I had an issue with Baldur's Gate 3 saves. I noticed every so often when I'd re-attempt to sync, it would add one file to the online cloud then fail. I found there are two copies of the save. One most point to in the user profile, but the other is in 32bit Program Files, I think where it queues the saves and info to be synced. For Baldur's gate, I found the saves under the SAME name, here > C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\13663634\1086940\remote < I deleted all the saves there, then it sync'd fine.

This probably does the same thing - "Dawg605 OP • 2mo ago • I fixed it by going into Settings > Downloads > Clear Download Cache"
