PSA: Valve is attempting to censor people that rebel against them
Recently, I have found out that if you put "#killvalve" in your nickname, it will get censored for no actual reason.

Spread the word and please stop feeding their death machine with your money!

I guess it's just to upset the fans of the company. I must say it seems to be working lol.
The fans couldn't care less. It's actually funny. Why? 1. It's the OPs' account getting moderated, no one else. 2. WHY would you do something specifically to get a reaction and then cry foul when you get one?

I think moderation should be reduced. They don't do a good job right now probably because they are understaffed in this area. It would be better to just limit the TOS to a few big things that are easy to recognize.

That said, I don't like the word Kill in this context. It would feel threatening if I were an Steam employee. There are some crazy people out there.

There isn't freedom of speech on privately owned forums.

Well for once i'd like to hear them admit it. All i hear from these social media companies when they're hauled into Congress, is how much they value Freedom Of Speech, and how they're striving for it, with the threat of being thrown out their protection umbrellas.

And although they sell games here, they're not selling games, on these socio media portions of their site.

And so when and if Mr Newell has to testify in front of Congress, i'll be writing my Representative to assure she inquires from Mr Newell, what HE is trying to do, to strive for Freedom Of Speech protections.
I'm sure that letter will find it's way to where the rest of them go. Straight to the shredder while the printer gives a automated response ready to mail back.

Are we expecting for that to happen within the actual century?

For an american, it's sad you don't know your own constitution.

The first amendment protects speech from government censorship.

In fact if you want Steam to be treated like a Social Media site, Steam's forums are protected by the Article 230 of the Federal Communications Decency Act.

So, you'd lose either way. Since a private platform, under no government control, they can remove anything they deem is against their own platforms rules.
so everytime you
spend money on steam
you
are supporting the moderation you are getting...

cant wait for the next sale...

There are many here.
That has to be my favorite conspiracy.

Conspiracy. Like I used the word Excedrin in one of my threads and the next day someone called Excedrin appear and that was me? No way.

I hope so. Mr Newell is no spring chicken lol. But yes, i think the gaming industry in the US has become a political pinata on many issues.

From crime, to child safety, to gambling issues, to monopoly issues, to a need for more regulative practice.

And so, yes, i think like most all the big tech companies, gaming will be a point of contention in the future.

Tell me. How much sense does it make for you to sit here and complain about how awful this place is, yet you will not leave?

I think it makes the same sense as post 27,000+ threads all day telling people they are victims like you do. At least spice it up every now and then.

So just like a dictator can silence anyone they want for whatever reason?

I always find it odd that those who have constantly complained about the government want more government involved in areas they don't even care about.

If you want to treat it as such, then yes. The rules are so people are treated fairly and well. If you think that's a dictatorship, then so be it.

Doesn't stop Steam moderation from doing their job as they should be doing.

Well, some would consider this way of thinking extremely naive. You also believe that the police exists to protect the population, right?

I don't think it's naive at all.

Is it really so hard to follow these rules?

What inside them, consists of anything that is malicious or controlling? I mean if you could actually make a point that is valid for once in your entire life, now would be the time to do so.

I for one think it is time to stop ganging up on C²C^Guyver |NZB|. It happens to me all the time here and although I don't really care anymore it is not nice.

As always, I was hoping for a little more benefit of the doubt on my threads (all threads) here but I can understand it is easier to act black and white and not care for others emotions.

Either way, gang up enough on C²C^Guyver |NZB| and it could be cause for harassment. I just wish the guy would talk to me other than accusing me. It is very frustrating.
