What does protecting have to do with not wanting foul language on the forums? There are essentially zero use cases were profanity is needed in a forum unless your intent is to post content that would otherwise be considered against the rules for another reason anyway. And for the few cases where profanity is not used in a manner that would otherwise be considered to break another rule, you can simply reword your point.
And as people under the age of 18 use Steam, Steam needs to keep certain material out of the forums, otherwise the forums would need age gates.
And people already complain enough about that in games that do age gates.
- Has nothing to do with my question. Calling a mechanic in a game dogsht within a review it's being censored, why aren't they censoring all of the filth games on the store then? I know this "foul language" might not be needed but who are you to decide this?
Because reviews are supposed to be polite and constructive. Calling something "dog feces" is not criticism, it's slander. The developer had every right to remove that kind of "review".
Hentai is opt in as you have to tick a box to show it because it is age gated. It is Adult Only Sexual Content.
Forums are not age gated and no one needs to be forced to read posts from another who deems swearing as acceptable form of communication.
You aren't even able to comprehend what I am referring to, my review was not deleted the word "dogsht" is being censored. This is what my problem is reffering to.
Why are all of the hardcore anime fans suddenly getting out of their caves to object and defend their hentai games getting a platform... I am not mad about hentai games being avaible on the platform but I think it's ironic to censor foul language then
I am almost certain I had to tick a box to get rid of it - make me tick a box then to censor foul language if I am so dearly offended by words..
Forums and reviews are completely public and there are many younger users on Steam that shouldn't be seeing that kind of language.
Adult games are only visible to people who MANUALLY enabled their visibility. Forum posts and reviews are visible to everyone .
Hey brother I am pretty sure that your background profile gifs are not being censored for these youngins, huh? + any child who wants to will find out how to do it and then have free access to the hentai games anyways - I mean the internet is a thing but I cannot write a review about a 18+ game and use bad language lmao. Make me tick a box to see bad language then...
Kinda bold assumption that younger users have less obscene vocabulary than adult ones. From my experience it's the other way round nowadays.
If showing skin around minors is a crime, then people going swimming should be arrested then?
Nope: Adult Sexual Content is OFF by default. I have never enabled it, i do not see those games.
Zero reason to tick a box when there is a filter to remove them. Your need to swear or your belief that others should find it acceptable only has relevance in your own environment but these forums etc are a shared space.
