Fake game (different app ID) key from 3rd party seller
I bought Wolfenstein 2009 Steam key without reading it full description.
The vendor says that this is not the original but a "re-release", lol

The key worked and I've gotten the Wolfenstein 2009 game in my library (on PC), The game runs fine out of the box and is a functional English version.

Wolfenstein 2009 was removed from steam long time ago.
Wolfenstein 2009 is apparently an abandonware now.
The game I've activated has a different app ID.
No store page. The original was removed so, no store page either.
Different app id, so I thought that why the game doesn't points to W2009 community features.
Turns out this game has no community features.
The game is not displayed in recent activity, nor in my profile while I'm playing it. The game is also not shown in my library on mobile app.

Apparently this is because this key is not for a game but for somethin else.
I found only one guy on a forum talking about this key. Saying that these keys are for a mod, that you don't get a game but a mod. The dev pushed a pirated copy of the game instead. He's not going into details and I still don't understand.

If it's a mod then a mod for what ?
We have steam keys for mods now ?
How does it work, why do I get a full game instead in my library.
How it's even legal ? probably not, but how the dev's managed to pull it off, cause it's abandonware?

MachineGames, id Software are owned by Zenimax, Raven Software is owned by Activision, all of which are owned by Microsoft. So effectively Microsoft owns the IP.

It doesn't matter if you can still purchase it or not. The IP is owned by Microsoft.
