Where are Steam recordings saved on a PC?
Where are they stored on disk? When you click on a screenshot it says show on disk. It does not do that for recordings. Where are they stored? I want to cut all of them off the HD and delete them all at once

Look in Steam > Settings > Game Recording and then scroll down. The default folder is listed there, but you can set your own.

Default of mine looks like:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\xxxxxxx\gamerecordings

Yeah I had it set to Videos but it didn't put them there as instructed

I will have to make a shortcut of that to see if they turn up there in future

Ah - ok, I've not tried it yet, but if it's bugged I'm sure it'll get fixed soon enough.

whats frustrating as well is some games such as Escape the Backrooms refuse to record with Shadowplay so I have to resort to using something else, like this new steam recording feature, to record footage

lol - it is pretty bad! It's a new feature so we can only assume it'll get better in time.

The recordings freak out when an overlay is on too. Like I have mango had flicker in and out of view when using the steam recording feature.

To be fair, none of the screen capturing tools work on my Linux system OBS crashes when I hit the record button, and Kooha the resulting videos turn out all stuttery but they look crystal clear.. Those are the only 2 that I know of that work on Wayland... so I hoped the Steam one would actually work correctly, I tested a few other games and the same results happen with the steam one..im forced to use a capture card on another PC just to record stuff if I want to record a game session..

But anyway with the steam one there is a menu option in steam to export the video (share button), the weird part there is it looks like it plays fine in the preview without weird glitches, but something seems to break after exporting it to a usable file for uploading to youtube.

yeah I found that when I export to an mp4, I can only do one. Then I have to log out of Steam and in again to do the next one its such a pain

FFS can you believe it, I have exported my footage, and inserted it into DaVinci Resolve to edit it and make a video but DaVinci Resolve doesn't recognise the video, only the audio...

Seems Linux-related. Either the non-free codecs you have installed aren't handling the video well enough, either in the encode phase or decode phase or both, or Steam cannot handle the non-free codecs well enough and thus it makes bad videos when even the encoder might have the capacity for it, but I doubt that second case.

I would say install your non-free codec pack and see if that helps. Judging by those artifacts, it's a clear codec-related issue.

I think it is the compression Steam uses. Set it to max size and the videos look fine.

I just tried some more steam recordings, but when I tried talking the audio was really dodgy and skipped half the words I said
wreckdlemon 6 ABR a las 9:53 a. m.
Well this sucks. Can't export anything over 3 minutes and the .m4s doesn't want to play in any pf my video editors or vlc. The only way I can get a background recording is to play the file in steam and screen cap the whole video in real time. A simple right click export video or a button would be helpful. Any news on why this is still broken?
