Certain games being delisted for the sake of next-gen nonsense am I losing my mind is it true?
Idk if the rumors is true but I noticed some games being delisted mainly retro gaming on Steam and wonder if anyone knows if it's about this next-gen garbage? Who ever owns Valve needs to know this is not okay. If you guys think you have the power that we don't own you technically we do own you because we give you our paychecks. Why are we still buying Steam games with all this delisting going on right now all because they want this next-gen garbage?

Why do we continue to buy things from Valve if they CLAIM we don't own it shouldn't we take our paychecks else where? I've been a big Steam fanatic since Windows 7 was a thing and I do NOT approve delisting retro gaming all for the sake this modern garbage is what one rumor points out to online. Please tell me this isn't true retro games are disappearing because of this whole next-gen nonsense come on guys if this is true then shame on you and we should be filing a complaint against you to the FTC and Better Business Bureau this is ridiculous if this rumor is real I know you guys have a POLICY that you clicked I AGREE that you think you own all of us but if that's the case idk if I should even trust Steam at this point please tell me these are all just rumors idk why I still buy games from you guys claiming the all digital age is the superior age not when they control you and claim they own you. I want you to know it's the opposite we own you we give you the MONEY understand this and we can easily go somewhere else for our games if you continue to act like this now the delisting has GOTTA stop and I know there are people who will agree and some who will not agree but that's okay now if this rumor isn't true kudos I am here to stay but if I find out the Valve owner is delisting retro gaming for the sake of the "next-gen" I will continue to keep what games I got but I will no longer SUPPORT your company Mr Valve CEO and you can just have a nice day if you don't value the customer please tell me this is all just rumors thanks guys.

UPDATE

Found the video of the guy talking about all of this idk if what he says is true but apparently he believes retro games are disappearing from Steam I could of mis understood him as well I know Sega is replacing older games for newer games and other companies are following them. Long story short something about games being replaced by remasters or something like that with like realistic graphics or something does it sound familiar to anyone? If I need to add more information I will update as I go sorry for confusing people.

Ah, I see. This is all driven by Youtube outrage videos. "Youtubers going nuts over it" is a good reason to ignore things.

I'm guessing that you're actually referring to when games get a new page for their remastered version - like the old Dead Island games got replaced with the Definitive Editions, or the Bioshock games getting newer versions (I'd had the original Bioshock 2 in my wishlist and eventually the wishlist entry stopped showing details, because the new version had replaced the old one).

Yeah that's sooo weird on my end it's not showing a buy option or in the search indexes at all is this what's going on or something like that? I know there's still Sonic games I wanna buy it looks like I am looking at the Half Price games and they got massively sliced in half to 0.99 but it's not popping up in Search results is it possible this is why people are freaking out? I'm trying to remain calm about this because I just wanna know if I can still buy retro games hell I don't know why half the retro games I am looking up are gone I hope that's not the reason though are they putting these games in bundles or something?

Are you in Germany?

I am pretty sure they will care when people start complaining idk if you're being toxic or not but there's no need to be toxic I just want answers thanks.

To be fair, Valve already has an F on BBB and has had that F for many years now. I don't think they care about the BBB at all.

Also the FTC isn't going to do anything against dev/pubs deciding to no longer sell their games on a store, so you really don't have a valid complaint there when it comes to the FTC.

Go figures because you can't trust the government all we can hope is the Valve director pops in to see what he can work arrangements with everyone. Man that guy is Legendary for Steam I was even trying it on Linux and everything the operation was actually pretty smooth I know eventually I need a computer upgrade I am waiting to see if computer prices are gonna fall because holidays and what not.

You snooze, you lose. The idea that devs should be obligated to keep selling something because you spent years not buying it is ridiculous on its face.

I'm gonna add all the classic Sonic games to my list then I own Sonic Adventure 2 in my Library and I got Sonic Generations which people recently saved from an attempted delist for the new Sonic X Shadow game I am still getting that game too which looks promising and it looks like I meet the requirements. If anything else pops into mind I will check it out and see what's going on but that's just strange how some of the games aren't popping up in my Search Indexes I think Alan Wake disappeared as well in the search index but it exists in my Library but that was because I actually snagged a disc when Windows 7 was still actually a thing RIP Windows 7 you will be missed I'm glad I got Alan Wake while I did now when I type in Google Search it doesn't even appear like they replaced it with the Alan Wake 2 game like it doesn't exist weird.

try searching without being logged into your account and see if they show up. If you are blocking certain tags and those tags have been applied by Steam users then it'll remove those games from your search results while logged into your account.

Well I got Half Life to pop up here but when I search it shows up as Half Life 2 and certain games will seem to disappear as if it's kind of being delisted. I know my brother is having issues getting Portal to pop up but I am seeing this perfectly fine. Idk why people are saying retro games will be disappearing because of next-gen Triple A gaming that would suck if it did because my computer can't do a lot of Triple A I do got GTA5 if that even counts or not which BTW I love that game half to death and even did VR with it as an unsupported VR Game but it was still pretty cool. I am hoping games like that don't start disappearing it would be sad to see iconic games disappear that pioneered all of this.

Yeah, we're trying to get these old games on Steam so you can purchase them.

For example, we still want to have Warhammer Dark Omen and Clive Barker's Undying on Steam. But it's up to the publishers to do that, and keep them on Steam forever.

I know someone on Minds is encouraging me to do a GOG account to preserve older games in a list and has a way to import your Steam games but idk how well it works. I wanna import Alan Wake onto a GOG account and gonna have to look up tutorials. Dude I was raised in the early 2000s and even play older Zelda and Mario games which is awesome. It's gonna be even more hard to get these games if we don't some how see if the Valve guy can help us out. I know if he wants money he might be able to help but fat chance of that the dude is probably too busy to even talk to please Valve owner save my childhood thanks!

Are you accusing Half-Life 2, released literally 20 years ago, of being "next gen nonsense"?

The reason Half-Life 2: Episode One and Half-Life 2: Episode Two are no longer high-visibility in the store is that Half-Life 2 comes with both of them for free (and if you previously owned any of the three, you now own all three).

They remove based on whether they want to resell it or not so you have no other options. They're removing the broken sword games that come with the original and directors cut for the remaster, sonic was taken out for origins sales, now sega is just removing the megadrive completely. It's not a good collection though, the emulator features suck on that so you're better off playing them elsewhere. Maybe they'll do a new one

The best thing that can happen is publishers keeping the game up, or at least include the old version with the new one if they decide to delist. Square didn't even have the curtesy to leave the old last remnant up or sell the new one lol. Dragon quest XI's good graphics version was also removed to sell the switch version

It's easy enough to include the old versions or not delist them (unless a lot of licensing), the darksiders games and lucky's tale have done it, after some requests, so no real excuse to wipe them from existence

You're clearly doing something wrong with your searches. Alan Wake is still being sold on Steam.

Alan Wake II is a sequel. Has nothing to do with delisting anything.

Okay I gotta do some clarification here you missed the point I am saying older games are being delisted due to next-gen gaming watch some YouTube videos about it and you will see what's going on it's kind of strange if these rumors would actually be true.

Can you please provide links to said youtube videos?

Cause so far every game you mentioned as being delisted weren't delisted at all.
