While it is true, that their main hosting servers are centralized.. The rest of us all make up a massive network of downloaded data..... And they have the sole key to the system/Blockchain?
Steam items are the owners, but skins are identical to NFTS (Non Fungible Tokens) stored in steam (Blockchain) .
THis is about steams similarities to Blockchain technology and the way it works..
Not about promoting Crypto.
Steam is Kinda its own Self contained crypto system in a lot of ways :-P
OOo thats interesting.. I guess i wasnt the first to think of the similarities.. I mean i noticed them several years ago, and ive tried to promote the use of cryptos here, and been denied several times over the years before.. so i know :-D
Except it doesn't have anything to do with blockchain as having an inventory of digital items doesn't make something a block chain, nor a NFT. Your just using buzz words without knowing what they actually are.

None of that remotely occurs on steam
But isnt it?
Look at how the antiquated technology that maintains security for a system liek steam which is going out of date.... Blockchain tehcnologly is the evolution of systems liek steam :-D I imagine that the idea came from directly observing steam and imagining a new more secure system, amoung other applications :-D it would be too much responsibilty for any one to control, so you would release it as a open source locked system of checks and balances.
Also everyone with a 15,000 monkey jpeg are probably on a watchlist right now if taxes didn't rip their entire body off.
Crypto is a seperate thing from the concept of Blockchain Technology and its uses...
Sure, Crypto started the idea of Blockchains, But now blockchains have started taking on different uses...
ask chatgpt to review what i say, and see what it has to say about it :-D
Valve doesn't want NFTs on Steam and they stopped accepting Bitcoin ages ago.
If you would read all that was discussed above, you would see that this isnt actually the issue that is being discussed .
I read it and it went on a tangent so, I stuck to the main topic.
Steam is not a blockchain.
